AIBU Topic specifically for Coronavirus

What do you think? Free up actual AIBU for the petty gripes of old, get rid of the AIBUs relating to the pandemic?
It could have the voting and everything!

@paxillin

There aren't nearly enough competitive hygiene threads. Towel washers or sheet changers must be otherwise engaged.
Yes you would think that there would be much washing/sheet changing going on during a pandemic. Yesterday there was a brief exchange re fitted sheets but otherwise-nothing.

No driving debacles either.

Whilst you're there, is there any to hide the rona topic without logging into the desktop site? I use the mobile version.

BIWI · 07/01/2021 18:31

I joked in the summer that new nephew 'would be driving up to see us the next time at this rate'. How we laughed. Sad
Seriously though I did think by the time he was one we'd at least be there watching him blowing his candle out, even from 2 metres. Very jealous of the staff at his day nursery getting to spend the day with him though.

Awww BIWI and Sparklingbrook, not being able to see youngest fam, that is depressing.

But on a brighter note - you've managed to winkle Pax out, which I find very pleasing @paxillin

ssd · 07/01/2021 20:15

Great idea @Sparklingbrook

And no one is going anywhere so theres no parking with a diagram now, which is much better as far as I'm concerned

😂😂😂
NoWordForFluffy · 07/01/2021 22:16

@Samcro

yes please. I am so bored with the zillion threads about keyworkers.
Me too. It has the very opposite effect of making me give a shit.
paxillin · 08/01/2021 14:30

And icecream vans. Has everyone stopped being passionate about the tunes? (And the drugs they supposedly sell)

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2021 14:33

Nobody cares about anything any more. There's a pandemic on don't you know? Must be speculated over at all times. Make up a few facts, bit of random scaremongering from dubious sources.

OP posts:
mogloveseggs · 08/01/2021 14:34

Thoroughly agree!
I long for a parking thread!

TeenPlusTwenties · 09/01/2021 08:18

I agree. I have also just asked for a schools moaning board.

TeenPlusTwenties · 09/01/2021 08:20

Really CV needs to be a topic with boards underneath it

  • CV AIBU
  • CV Moaning about education
  • CV Vaccination
  • CV Chat
And then a massive effort from moderators for 2 weeks moving all threads as soon as they appear.
wowfudge · 09/01/2021 08:23

Can we have a specific board for bitching about other people having keyworker places in schools for their kids?

TeenPlusTwenties · 09/01/2021 08:28

@wowfudge - I just made that request! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/4130336-Coronavirus-Schools-Education-moaning-topic

Good on you. It's just bloody boring now and it's only been four days.

TeenPlusTwenties · 09/01/2021 08:38

For me it's not so much boring as messing with my mental health.

I have a vulnerable y11 who isn't able to access much education right now, plus a number of other major things going on. I'd like to be able to 'enjoy' MN without these threads being scattered everywhere else.

Sparklingbrook · 09/01/2021 09:41

After a quick scan of this morning’s offerings I also think there’s a need for a ‘Pointless Coronavirus Speculation’ topic where everyone gets their 🔮 out and guesses what’s going to happen and states it as fact. Grin

OP posts:
TeenPlusTwenties · 09/01/2021 09:48

Agree those threads need to be on a CV board somewhere.

The ones I hate are where the title read likes a fact but is actually speculation like
'Schools not back until September'
or
'Vaccine not effective in people whose name starts with an R'

Sparklingbrook · 09/01/2021 09:54

It was the ‘school not back until September’ thread that made me Hmm. How is anyone on the internet going to know?

OP posts:
AuntieStella · 09/01/2021 09:56

I don't want to see the spread of voting, but nor do I want to see a second AIBU topic

So perhaps the answer would be to take the lesser of two weevils and enable polling in the coronavirus topic?

BIWI · 09/01/2021 10:01

The second AIBU topic would be hidden away in the CV board though @AuntieStella!
