Hiding whole topics

I feel that this has probably been asked before, but is it possible to hide a whole topic? I'm getting increasing anxious about Covid Extreme Threads here. I would like to be able to hide the whole thing, or stop it appearing in trending, but just so it doesn't appear in Active... do I want the moon a stick?

I've just removed so much stuff, MN is going to be a whole new place.

Removing AIBU is so liberating. You see so many other topics that have been way down the queue.
I'm loving the Doghouse and Style & Beauty.
It's so much more varied and more positive!

Can we also ban the phrase “posting for traffic” please ?

It makes me as topics I have hidden sneak into active convos. Get in your correct section!

I yearn for the days of CFs at weddings and overbearing mils. My blood pressure can’t take coronavirus threads any more. The whingeing is terrible . Not to mention the stupidity.

The "corona free" topic is all well and good but I don't want to have to go and sit in a quiet corner just because people can't use the right topic. 🙁

I don't want to miss all the other stuff.

We need a muted words function, eg. If the word "covid" is in the first post then hide the whole thread.

We need a quicker function to hide a thread. Should be a simple quick swipe to delete from view.

I hide them with one click from Active Conversations

I used to have the app but it got on my nerves for some reason. No doubt when I start using it again, the reason will come back to me🤔

No, the desktop site. I think it's one of the customise options.

Is there any way of hiding all the teachers and Covid threads please? I am getting increasingly angrier at them especially when my sons school the teachers have done nothing last lockdown, and it seems to be heading the same way.
Literally last night every thread was from a teacher, sorry but everyone else is a lot worse off, struggling far more and gets on with it

Hiding the topics only helps when people post in the right topic in the first place!

Anyone who dares to suggest that a poster uses the correct topic is immediately accused of being the "thread police" and told to scroll on by.

Don’t bother reporting threads that should be in the COVID section, you’ll be told they are good discussions and should not be moved. Why bother making a COVID section if actually people are allowed to post anywhere they like? I intermittently hide the covidvirus section when I get fed up of it but increasingly it makes little difference.

As soon as I see posting for traffic or click bait in the opening sentence I close it and hide the thread. If they can't be arsed to post in the right place I can't be arsed to read it!!

Wish I'd hidden Coronavirus months ago now. Didn't realise how much reading about it on active was doing my head in.

If you click the down arrow next to Talk (just under the blue bar at the top) then customise, I have this option

I reported a whole slew of posts that were about Coronavirus but which were in the wrong place, yesterday. TBF, they were moved by MNHQ, but it does make me feel like the class snitch!

I get that you're all really busy there, but it would be much appreciated if you could move more of them without us having to report them!

I don't have that here and most of the options you have. In fact your whole page and how your posts show is completely different from mine. I'm on the computer - is this the app or premium feature?
