JJ - i LOVE kings of convenience - got both their albums. I really like the ones with Feist singing on too - i bought her album because i love her voice on that last track.

How about Sufjan Stevens. Like him.
Devandra Banhart too. Surely you like Kings of Leon?

I am trying to get into Kings of Leon but dread to tell you all that I find it a bit of a racket. Oh dear. I'll be seguing seamlessly into dusting while humming to Richard Clayderman next...

Boco · 23/09/2007 21:51

Oh no, it's not a racket, it's gorgeousness.

Sufjan Stevens is a bit easier maybe? I have Illinoise. If you've seen Little Miss Sunshine, one of the tracks from that album was in the film, while they're driving along in the campervan, it's very uplifting and happy.

moondog · 23/09/2007 22:03

I'll try again then.

southeastastra · 23/09/2007 22:06

i really like discovering old music. modern stuff is ok but the oldies are the goodies

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/09/2007 11:03

Just thinking that I wanted to recomme nd the new Richard Hawley cd - Lady's Bridge - if you like the Edwyn Collins....

Earlybird · 26/09/2007 02:22

This is a great(and very different sounding) track from the new Chaka Khan album that features vocals from Mary J Blige. Give it a listen, and let me know what you think:

anyone listened to Carbon/Silicon yet ? - like Big Audio Dynamite

aDead · 01/10/2007 17:10

carbon/silicon sounds interesting. Never heard of them.

I just got new Unkle album, Justice album and the last gogol bordello. Listened to them all once but no more so far. Unkle sounded nice, lots of guest vocals as usual.

MaryAnnSingletomb · 01/10/2007 17:22

heard a track from Carbon/Silicon on Gary Crowley's show on Radio London on Saturday - Mick Jones and Tony James - worth a listen (am old Clash fan)

aDead · 01/10/2007 17:34

ahhh i too heard a track but hadn't caught the name they were playing under.

the track was only so-so, but will definitely check them out.

aDead - Manu Chao is on Robert Elms this afternoon BBC Radio London !

aDead · 03/10/2007 10:40

oh great, might try and catch that, although have a stupidly busy day so we shall see. but thanks!

and I like that song jules - liked the original too - not the usual sort of thing i like but powerful stuff somehow. Saw a fab visual work called "Sip my Ocean" by an artist called Pipilotti Rist which used the original track. Was really lovely footage of things floating underwater. (i think you had to be there sorry!)

MaryAnnSingletomb · 03/10/2007 10:47

glad I caught you aDead ! you can always Listen Again...

willow · 03/10/2007 13:27

This is very gentle and very beautiful... Kate Walsh

MaryAnnSingletomb · 03/10/2007 16:32

after all that I missed Manu Chao !

aDead · 03/10/2007 16:48

lol me too!

I'm guessing it was just showcasing music from new album and some chat?

There was a good article on him in observer music monthly a few weeks back. Always comes across as a nice guy.

MaryAnnSingletomb · 03/10/2007 16:54

I can't remember seeing that in Observer music monthly and I read it all last time !! maybe it was before you'd mentioned him so I wasn't paying attention - I'll see if I can do the listen again thing...

MaryAnnSingletomb · 05/10/2007 09:38

aDead - probably not your cup of tea, isn't mine, but as a contrast Robert Elms has Katie Melua on today !
