Best album I bought last year was by Skye - ex lead singer of Morcheeba - 'tis truly a work of genius.

massivebigpantsface · 23/09/2007 18:57

I always wondered that about a music topic too..

btw - I love arcade fire! I bet they are fantastic live, they have such an eclectic sound.

I haven't been to see any live music since way before dd was born. The last gig I went to was Subtle about a year ago, but I had to stand at the back in the sound mans box as everyone was jumping into my bump!

Wisteria · 23/09/2007 18:59

That happened to me at the Blur REM gig in 1995 - god I feel really old now

massivebigpantsface · 23/09/2007 18:59

massivebigpantsface · 23/09/2007 19:01

listening to that right now JJ, not really what I'd listen too at home but it has been covered very well and she does have a lovely, silky voice.

I like covers too, do you ever hear any of radio ones live lounge stuff? They always have bands doing some really different and interesting cover versions. One of the best I have heard was Lemar doing U2's Vertigo! I can't stand either artist but he did it so well!

JJ that Bright Eyes video is so cute. One of the men look creepily like my dad though, the wild eyed one with the beard!

moondog · 23/09/2007 20:42

Thanks for that tip Dad.
I've heard a lot about Joanna Newsom so looked her up on Youtube. That voice is definitely an acquired taste but she deos have something...

I run a baby signing business with a harpist-will have to point her Joanna's way.
