"There's been new updates on the AIBU poll"

BoreOfWhabylon · 17/01/2020 19:36

I've started getting these emails when (presumably) AIBU polls I've posted on are updated.

I find them irritating and don't want them, but there is no obvious way to turn them off.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRGHHHHHHHH!!!

@MNHQ please stop it!

I'm only signed up for the round-up (which I don't get!) and, same as MsVestibule, there is nowhere to unsubscribe from these AIBU spam emails.

Hi all,

To turn these notifications off, go to customise, scroll down to 'Notify me when there are updates on AIBU polls' and untick the box.

PickAChew · 27/01/2020 21:13

I've I ticked the box, I've saved the changes and the tick has just appeared back on the box.

This sort of thing is intrusive and should be opt in.

Smelborp · 27/01/2020 21:30

They’ve started again. I followed the notifications settings, I’ve unchecked them and as I press save, they reappear. Angry

I’ve tried three times now.

This is not on.

Same here. Please just switch it off.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/01/2020 22:01

Thanks LilyMumsnet. I've (hopefully) managed to turn them off now.

How annoying that we were automatically opted into spam.

SistersOfPercy · 27/01/2020 22:12

Everything off. Still being spammed.

Navy123 · 27/01/2020 22:17

As others have said - when I uncheck the box and press save it resets to being checked. Not loving the auto enrolment into spam emails.

PickAChew · 01/02/2020 09:09

@lilymumsnet is anything actually being done about this? The solution you gave us isn't working and no one from mnhq has even been back to this thread to acknowledge that.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 01/02/2020 10:20

Yes, @MumsnetHQ this really is not ok. I am logged in. I am not subscribed to any emails, newsletters or notifications but still they keep coming.
You need to sort this out. Surely it is not in line wIth GDPR?
Please let us know what you are doing about this and when we can expect a solution. It has been weeks since this was raised with you. It’s unacceptable for this to be continuing.

We're so sorry this still isn't working. We're looking at it now - please bear with us (again).

GetOffTheTableMabel · 01/02/2020 22:28

I don’t see why, if you prioritise abiding by GDPR and not pissing off your membership further,, you can’t just disabled voting until you can abide by the law. I have had a further 3 emails of this type since this I posted above this morning.

Smelborp · 02/02/2020 07:49

They’re still coming.

redcarbluecar · 02/02/2020 07:55

Another one here who’s very frustrated with these emails - two more this morning!

CinnabarRed · 02/02/2020 07:57

I bloody hate this.

KittenVsBox · 02/02/2020 08:41

I got my first ones yesterday.
I've tried unsubscribing, will see what happens, but its putting me off voting.

PineappleDanish · 02/02/2020 08:53

I'm getting these too, despite having unsubscribed.

please stop.

It's unwanted spam, and really unprofessional.

BoomBoomsCousin · 02/02/2020 15:27

Why have you not switched all of these emails off until you can make this work properly? To have done it once was pretty poor, but twice and just leave it going despite knowing it isn’t working is kind of contemptuous of your audience (not to mention the law).

donquixotedelamancha · 02/02/2020 16:58

Cam on here to moan about this. I've even turned off all emails in an attempt to det it to stop, but they still keep coming.

You are breaking the GDPR rules

This. I'm amazed these emails haven't been stopped altogether until this is resolved. @MNHQ

BowiesJumper · 02/02/2020 18:54

Why have these JUST started to come to me? I can’t imagine anyone actually wants to use this feature??

PineappleDanish · 02/02/2020 20:15

If you click "unsubscribe from all emails" on the spammy email, it doesn't work.

I clicked "manage email preferences" and unsubscribed from everything through the website and so far, no more spam.

But still, it's a lot more awkward than it needs to be.

MardyBra · 02/02/2020 20:23

Don’t want these emails MN - they are very intrusive. Make it stop please.
