"There's been new updates on the AIBU poll"

BoreOfWhabylon · 17/01/2020 19:36

I've started getting these emails when (presumably) AIBU polls I've posted on are updated.

I find them irritating and don't want them, but there is no obvious way to turn them off.

Thanks Gloria, I hope it's working now

Hi everyone, we're sorry to have caused this and irritated everyone with the update! We've turned it off now but it may take a short time to take effect.

I followed the link, unticked the box. 2 AIBU poll emails were sent in the early hours of this morning.Removing the tick doesn't work.

Also now that I have opted out of all emails, I'm not seeing the vote button on any AIBU topics.

I want to vote.

I just don't want to have to receive the spammy emails updating the poll.

Another one with this problem Angry

Ironic isn’t it? We get spammed uncountable times, but not even a daily update on this thread.

Of course, what attempting to unsubscdibe via the email itself does appear to have achieved is removing me from the insight panel. I'm not so fussed about that, as they all end up on the boards, anyhow, but I am concerned that I will now miss out on updates for a product test I'm doing.

Surely mumsnet is a large enough company, by now, to have a competent IT team.

The only way I could get it not to put a tick in the box was to untick everything which I don’t really want to do but I’m so annoyed with the emails I decided it’s worth it.

I’ve looked on my settings and you don’t actually have my permission to send me ANY emails. Yet I’m getting them every 10 minutes.

ILLEGAL. Are you reporting this breach of GDPR yourself?

Report
musicposy · 02/02/2020 21:57

One email a day, may be forgiveable, but I have something like 50 emails to delete in the space of two days (yes, I spend a lot of time voting on AIBU!).

I did NOT give you permission for this. I’m just going to unsubscribe from mumsnet emails altogether after this.

Nobody wants these updates. Why would you think we would?

Report
PrinkingPreening · 02/02/2020 21:43

I can’t imagine anyone actually wants to use this feature??

This!

Nobody wants this information, and if they did then they would know where to find it.

This must be why it's been made opt-out, rather than opt-in and also impossible to unsubscribe from even when you try . Because absolutely nobody would want to opt into it.

Also ILLEGAL ILLEGAL ILLEGAL.

WTAF, Mumsnet.

Agree, I keep getting them. TURN IT OFF.

CodenameVillanelle · 02/02/2020 21:29

Who on earth actually wants emails updating them on AIBU polls? All this has done is stopped me clicking on the polls so well done mumsnet, you've added a feature nobody asked for or is likely to want and made what was quite a good feature unusable.
Who's bright idea were email poll updates?!

MardyBra · 02/02/2020 20:23

Don’t want these emails MN - they are very intrusive. Make it stop please.

Report
PineappleDanish · 02/02/2020 20:15

If you click "unsubscribe from all emails" on the spammy email, it doesn't work.

I clicked "manage email preferences" and unsubscribed from everything through the website and so far, no more spam.

But still, it's a lot more awkward than it needs to be.

Why have these JUST started to come to me? I can’t imagine anyone actually wants to use this feature??

donquixotedelamancha · 02/02/2020 16:58

Cam on here to moan about this. I've even turned off all emails in an attempt to det it to stop, but they still keep coming.

You are breaking the GDPR rules

This. I'm amazed these emails haven't been stopped altogether until this is resolved. @MNHQ

Why have you not switched all of these emails off until you can make this work properly? To have done it once was pretty poor, but twice and just leave it going despite knowing it isn’t working is kind of contemptuous of your audience (not to mention the law).

Report
PineappleDanish · 02/02/2020 08:53

I'm getting these too, despite having unsubscribed.

please stop.

It's unwanted spam, and really unprofessional.

Report
KittenVsBox · 02/02/2020 08:41

I got my first ones yesterday.
I've tried unsubscribing, will see what happens, but its putting me off voting.

CinnabarRed · 02/02/2020 07:57

Another one here who’s very frustrated with these emails - two more this morning!

They’re still coming.

I don’t see why, if you prioritise abiding by GDPR and not pissing off your membership further,, you can’t just disabled voting until you can abide by the law. I have had a further 3 emails of this type since this I posted above this morning.
