Not seeing deletion messages

Now when a thread I'm watching goes I end up on an Oops page not found message instead of the deletion message. Is it just me?

Doyoumind · 02/09/2019 21:22

This is annoying me now. Several threads I've been on recently have gone. One I know for sure why. One I can guess. The others I have no idea.

To me this works against the guidelines as people don't know at what point and why it went wrong.

Anything MNHQ?

I don’t understand why this forum is broken so frequently. Their tech really don’t have a grip on it.

LaMarschallin · 03/09/2019 10:02

As of about two minutes ago:
Still just the wretched picture.

I used to think the logo was really clever, but I'm sick of the sight of it having seen it so many times.

Perhaps the money spent on a graphic designer should have gone towards making the site work better.

(Sorry, I know I'm being crabby and I'd prefer MN to be here - warts and all - rather than not)

CookPassBabtridge · 03/09/2019 12:59

Same here on the app. The thread just looks empty now rather than a message, or sometimes has disappeared completely from my list.

MrMeSeeks · 03/09/2019 13:48

Ffs now another thread! Not bothering now.
What is the point!

colourlessgreenidea · 03/09/2019 13:50

This was reported days ago and hasn’t been ‘fixed’ yet, so it appears it’s not a tech glitch.

duffyluth · 03/09/2019 13:50

I have had this problem for weeks. Have told MNHQ and have posted a few times about it.

Pretty sure it’s here to stay. It’s the same on AS, and that has been reported multiple times over a lengthy timescale.

Given the high daily deletion rate, one might argue that it looks better to have an error page rather than yet another troll/PBP/‘looking behind the scenes’ deletion message.

LilyMumsnet · 03/09/2019 18:16

Hi all,

We're still looking into this one - sorry! We'll update when we know more. Flowers

duffyluth · 03/09/2019 18:36

I don't get any page. The thread disappears. Sometimes it's days before something hogs my memory and I realise i haven't see a thread. Then I have absolutely no idea why it's gone. I mean some are obviously troll threads, but many are deleted for other reasons.

Datun · 05/09/2019 10:23

It so useful to know why threads are deleted.

I know sometimes it's just a build up of bunfighting goadiness with insults, but other times there is a specific reason and it's useful to know. So people can learn.

Plus the deletion messages are often creative genius.

This is what I keep getting. I've also noticed that if i'm looking at a page of threads I'm on, I get the same message, unless I click on the title, (rather than the poster, who is displayed too). That's new. And makes you think it's been deleted, when it hasn't.

Come on MN. Still waiting for a response on this as more threads get deleted.

Once deleted, they also seem to be dropping off Watching/I'm on very quickly and I don't remember that being the case before.

eBooksAreBooks · 05/09/2019 13:48

Something's a bit off isn't it? I didn't get the usual email response to a comment I reported, even though the comment was later deleted.

Schoolwasnohelp · 05/09/2019 14:43

So annoying. What happened to the one today about friend on holiday sending bf horrid messages?

ShirleyPhallus · 06/09/2019 09:05

@mnhq what’s going on with this?

PancakeAndKeith · 06/09/2019 17:40

Is it just to stop people place marking for a deletion message.

TruthOnTrial · 06/09/2019 20:50

I had emailed about the 'oops' page when clicking on the post rather than the title, months ago, to @lilymumsnet

I also advised about the oops page for deleted threads, so 'tech' notso already knew before this thread.

I have had no replies.

Tech seem to be losing it !

LaMarschallin · 07/09/2019 11:10

I suspect it's never going to fixed much like the advanced search "facility".

It's a nuisance though, because you click on something, get that tedious blue picture and (if you're me and, hence a bit slow on the uptake) assume you've done something wrong and click more times.
Then light dawns.

My new conspiracy theory is that MN get paid every time the "Damn!" page is viewed so we get more and more forced into doing it.

(No, I don't really think that, but MNHQ should look into it to increase revenue)

Wonkybanana · 07/09/2019 12:43

I came on here to post exactly the same thing after a thread I replied to last night (and others) has gone the same way. If I've posted, I'd like to know why it's gone - privacy concerns, trolling, a bunfight later, whatever. I've taken the time to reply, it seems only fair that I know what's happened.
(And for all the 'I's I've written above, the same applies to everyone else who commented or offered advice too.)

KatherineJaneway · 07/09/2019 13:02

It really is a nuisance as I want to know why threads get deleted.

colourlessgreenidea · 07/09/2019 13:40

Yes, the ‘famous daughter AMA’ one has gone and it’d be nice to know why Sad

wildcherries · 07/09/2019 13:42

I came here to post similar.

Wildorchidz · 07/09/2019 13:43

So has the ‘fuming with school’ one.

RedDogsBeg · 07/09/2019 13:58

Come on MN. Still waiting for a response on this as more threads get deleted.

MN are incredibly slow to respond to technical issues, I posted back in July about the inability for some users to see photographs posted on threads, asked why and what could be done about it and it was tumbleweed from MNHQ, no reply from them whatsoever.

Also having this "Oops" problem, interesting to see it was reported months ago via e-mail by Truth and a week ago publicly on this thread rather gives the impression that MNHQ Tech are not in the slightest bit interested.

YobaOljazUwaque · 07/09/2019 23:48

Just happened again for the 'Language students being recalled' thread - was it all made up? Was it real but the op was worried about being outed? Without a deletion message we have no idea. Mnhq should keep a log of deleted threads and their deletion reasons somewhere.
