Please can we just see the OP updates?

I'm hugely over invested in a thread that's more than a dozen pages long, waiting for the OP to come back, this happens quite often.
Is there any way we could have a button to see OP updates on a si gle page or similar? It's very tedious reading 10 plus pages of "placemarking" or whatever, when all you are interested in is the update.

chic got rather interested in’show all messages’ which I’ve never even noticed ! Just tried it and it doesn’t work on my iphone8 with latest iOS etc. Will keep trying. That would quicken things up a lot !

I’d really like this function too. It would go some way to helping people joining an ongoing thread get the gist of things. It’s not the friendliest atmosphere when someone joins a conversation to be told to rtft or that things have moved on. It would be a layer against people getting irritated by drip feeding too.

Although I would love this idea I’ve just realised that this would totally undo any sense of community. The conversation would not longer exist and anyone looking at a thread would see a series of random isolated responses with no development etc.
Obvs not all would use the feature but I’ll bet a lot would.
We’d all end up literally just having our say.
On balance i now think it would be a backwards step for the site (even though i would love it)

I just do "show all messages" and search the op's name in my browser (search bar on phone, ctrl-f on laptop).

My ‘show all messages’ doesn’t do anything !

I'd love this idea too, an OP only section. Sometimes the chat amongst everyone is interesting and fun (the thread about clothes that look different at home versus online) and sometimes you just want to know what happened (the thread about the poor poster who's husband was an alcoholic and her ASC son was alone at the festival).

People said that about the voting though and I don’t think that’s happened though. I think it’d encourage some people to join in longer threads, I know I tend to leave it when it’s a longer thread just because I can’t be arsed to scroll through pages for the highlight posts or change my settings just to get them all on one page.

(There should be a special word for internet laziness )

And can this system work in the app too pls?

this has been requested before. it'll never happen. less time scrolling means less ad exposure and therefore revenue for the site.

Yesssss I’ve wanted this for ages! Of course I have OP messages highlighted, it doesn’t help with the the scrolling though!!

It can be pretty annoying when 200 posts in, people are still asking the same question that the OP answered the day before, or repeatedly making a suggestion that’s already been discussed & discounted. Having something that would allow people to catch up quickly would hopefully help.

You can't show all message like you used to. All online page was great and you could search the thread. Now it’s limited and has ruined the browsing experience for me.

The mobile page rather than the ap shows the whole thread on one page

I think this is a great suggestion. I made in one of 'how can we improve mumsnet' surveys.

Yes please, I've literally been think about that yesterday! I use the app so I sometimes flip the thread and scroll down through the most recent posts to see if there's an updated from op.

Another 'yes please' from me too.

I suspect this is one that literally everyone would appreciate.
