Hi MNHQ,

Since you're so interested in improving the site lately, like for instance; asking people to pay for something that's free. Perhaps you'd be interested to know that there's something that's ruining the site for many users.

The daily mail are taking more and more threads and publishing them. You must be aware of how posters feel about this, you're constantly having to delete people's comments etc after the thread is stolen. So why aren't you doing anything about it?

Yes you've probably covered it in your small print, but you know fully well that it's now stopping people posting for advice. Perhaps people might pay your silly subscription fee if you solved the real problems, instead of giving out stupid emojis.

Perhaps a topic that's not allowed to be stolen from?

bruffin · 12/07/2019 15:50

Some idiots do that on here anyway, doesnt make a blind bit of difference.

Fromage · 12/07/2019 16:08

SOD OFF SHITBAGS

Thanks for calling me an idiot, bruffin.

It makes a difference in that should a reader look this up themselves, they see what we think of their choice of rag, and maybe they'll FO or learn something.

YOU ARE UGLY AND YOUR MOTHER DRESSES YOU FUNNY

I have seen threads quoted on dm, they have screenshots of posts (including usernames). I was wondering, is there something the papers wouldn't want to print/copy, eg a specific swear word or a 🖕, you could put in the beginning of all your posts? That they wouldn't be prepared to present to their precious readers?

Any ideas?

bruffin · 12/07/2019 16:43

I think they just blur over.
If someone puts a silly DM caveat, does it mean that its ok for another paper to lift the thread. Its ok for the Mirror, just not the DM.
Its a childish games that just make the poster look not very bright.

ssd · 12/07/2019 16:46

I'm getting sick of posters telling mnhq what to do
If you don't like the bloody site don't use it
Mn can't babysit you and keep all your stories private this is 2019

Shockers · 12/07/2019 16:59

I can’t be bothered reading threads that start with ranting at the DM. It’s just become another MN fad.

Onesailwait · 12/07/2019 17:23

whereismyfigleaf How would that work? Pretty sure most journalists know how to cut & paste.

TheRedBarrows · 12/07/2019 17:43

The threads regurgitated as stories crop up everywhere, from little local advertising rags to the broadsheets.

And each and everyone of them, with their inevitable link, brings traffic and therefore revenue to MN.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 13/07/2019 14:05

Oh ffs people are actually stupid enough to believe that
A. You can stop people picking up and rehashing threads from here - it's a public forum.
B. Writing a pathetic "daily mail are cunts" disclaimer will make a scrap of difference
People that stupid shouldn't be allowed access to a working computer

WorraLiberty · 13/07/2019 16:44

Seriously, use your enemies strength against them. And believe me, the Daily Mail is the enemy of every decent person in Britain today.

Apart from Mumsnetters it would seem.

Mumsnet has always been full of Daily Mail readers. It's by far and away the most linked to newspaper on here and has been for many years.

As an aside, I can't believe the sheer ignorance of some MNetters regarding what journalists can and can't do with public posts on the internet.

Wise up because you're supposed to be teaching your children about internet safety.

How in God's name can you do that if you truly believe a public forum is ever going to be a private space? Hmm
