I think I'd be frightened of her hard sell. I'd run away and hide in the loo with some vodka.

I think you are better at being strong. I'd have to give you knowing glances when it was all getting too much.

I can never get enough, and Cod knows that. I'll lap it up, dodging the old lady hoover, grinning like a mad woman. I'll bring you out the loo when it's all calmed down a bit. Will be fine.

You'll want to take a handful of the instant canapes in the loo with you though. They'll be great, I know they will.

But then of course, she'll follow you in there, with that hoover, sniffing out filo pastry crumbs in the loo, jabbing at your feet, snorting, trying to look hospitable.

cod and her sweeper

she'll be cross when you go and haven't pledged to buy one. She'll come and see you and hunt for the carpet sweeper you swore you'd get.

She'll sweep into my kitchen with a confident grin, throwing crumbs all over and look at me expectantly. I'll shuffle about and mumble a bit about how they wouldn't let me get one, seeing as I don't have a bad back and am not an OAP and we'll have a tense cup of coffee, knee deep in crumbs.
