Keep getting directed to dodgy sites

Hi, three times today I’ve clicked on a thread and it’s opened another window, to a dodgy site. The last one was a “100th person to click wins an iPad” type of thing. I’m on an iPad with iOS 11.2. Any ideas?

It hasn’t happened to me since I switched my adblocker back on. I recommend doing that.

Me too! So glad I posted this as - I will fess up - thought it was karmic revenge for previous non wholesome sites visited.

I’ve had this for approx 48 hrs
It’s a Virgin Media message
It’s not as frequent as others are getting but approx every 10 “clicks” or “entries”.
I’m away to turn on adblocker now

Tonight has been the greatest flurry of them yet.

It’s also randomly zooming my page and I too have just started getting French ads.

Me too all day virgin media advert, won’t click off & have to keep shutting MN down then back in again really fucking irritating.

I've checked and it's only when I use the Mumsnet website not any others. Using the app for the moment

It’s not from any phone provider - the ad is just picking up your current provider to try to look legit.
