Keep getting directed to dodgy sites

Hi, three times today I’ve clicked on a thread and it’s opened another window, to a dodgy site. The last one was a “100th person to click wins an iPad” type of thing. I’m on an iPad with iOS 11.2. Any ideas?

Hi, thanks for the posts and reports on this. Just to let you know that we've checked and it seems that this is happening across the UK - we are aware and trying to get it under control.

IsletsOfLangerhans · 22/03/2019 14:04

And me

Thanks for replying, sonia. I’m afraid I’ve switched my adblocker back on though. I appreciate you need ad revenue which is why I haven’t blocked ads recently, but this is far more annoying and intrusive than a header and sidebar.

Without wishing to sound dim, how do I get an ad blocker on my iPad?

CaveMum · 22/03/2019 14:08

Yup, it’s happened to me twice in the last half an hour too.

EntirelyAnonymised · 22/03/2019 14:43

It feels like the same issue as we had not long ago where the pop up kept taking us to some fake Facebook site.

ElBandito · 22/03/2019 14:48

Ad blocker switched back on.
AdvancedAvoider ad blockers are just apps from the App Store. I’m using 1Blocker

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 22/03/2019 14:53

Glad it’s not just me then. Every other thread I click on the EE congratulations crap pops up!!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 22/03/2019 14:59

This has been happening to me too! It even bloody happened when I clicked on this thread, to report that was having the same issue.

StarJumpsandaHalf · 22/03/2019 15:02

Between this and the repeated privacy notice Grr.

Redirected when leaving AIBU to go back to Active.

It is making the site unusable. It has happened three times just while I tried to type this post. I’m offski - I’ll check back later to see if it has been resolved.

ScrambledSmegs · 22/03/2019 16:05

OK this is new. When I try and bookmark my place on a thread, it's 50/50 whether I get redirected to this dodgy 'you've won a car!' thing.

iPad on Safari.

I've deleted my history and cleared cache etc but it's still happening.

StarJumpsandaHalf · 22/03/2019 16:08

Very hard to reply to threads and can’t use back button to return to where I was. Two kinds of messages now.
iPad and Safari.

ScrambledSmegs · 22/03/2019 16:10

This it the message I'm getting. It's bloody constant. I'm going to try the Ad Blocker now.

Me too, even whilst reading this thread! < over use of phone confession >

PaintBySticker · 22/03/2019 16:17

Yes it’s really annoying. I’m getting it too and never have on Mumsnet before. Because it knows your provider (in my case Virgin) naive people might think it’s genuine.

Sexnotgender · 22/03/2019 16:19

I’m getting it loads today on my iPhone.

Geometric · 22/03/2019 16:33

I will turn off the adblocker again when it’s sorted - I was trying to work out why I turned it off before, and remembered I put the ads back on in support of MN when the TRAs were pressuring advertisers to pull their ads.

Steamedbadger · 22/03/2019 16:50

Giving up on Mumsnet for now - this is unbearably irritating. At least I'll get more work done.

This is happening every time I click-it’s something about being an EE customer. Really annoying!

Please make it stop, mumsnet!!

AnyaMumsnet · 22/03/2019 17:28

Hi there all,

We're really sorry about this. We think we've managed to figure out what's been causing this and have put some blocks in place, which can take a while to take effect. If anyone still continues to have this issue after 6pm this evening, please do let MNHQ know.

Thanks for your patience while we've been investigating this.

JassyRadlett · 22/03/2019 18:06

Ironically I just had it as I tried to refresh to reply to this post. Grin

It’s every click at the moment.

GreyhoundzRool · 22/03/2019 18:13

Yes me too still happening just now on this thread

LokisLover · 22/03/2019 18:13

Keeps happening. 3 times in the last few minutes.
