I've just logged into someone else's account, using my own details?

I have no idea how this happened?

I logged in using my usual email address and password, went to TIO and realised I hadn't been on any of the threads in question and the account settings were completely different Confused

Then I realised it was someone else's account? Needless to say I logged straight out. I entered the same details again and now I'm back as me.

For the record, I'm not a name changer and have never heard of the person who I logged in as (see attached pic).

I've just logged into someone else's account, using my own details?

I was logged out of my account just now on my Chromebook. I can't log back in now. I went to my mobile app and it still had me logged in. I logged out and back in to see if it was a general issue and it seems to be working fine on the Android app.

So I can only use the Android app and not the chrome desktop site now?

SinisterBumFacedCat · 07/02/2019 10:18

Just had this. Why? MNHQ do advise we change our passwords?????

burrobirra · 07/02/2019 10:19

@Stardustinmyeyes Here's the exact quote from JustineMumsnet:

The log out is working it's way through - it takes a little while. The app isn't affected so you won't be logged out if you use that.

WhatTheNightBrings · 07/02/2019 10:20

There should definitely be an announcement. Going by information on the ICO website, users should be notified without "unnecessary delay"

theemmadilemma · 07/02/2019 10:20

I had a forced logout. This is really worrying though.

Whomever said this is one the DM should pick up, is right.

Notthatsimple · 07/02/2019 10:20

I’m dreading that someone has looked at my username history and now knows all my aliases Blush

WhatTheNightBrings · 07/02/2019 10:21

Hi whatthenightbrings, there’s no need to complete any forms. We’ll get back to you with the info you've requested asap.

Thanks Justine.

IceRebel · 07/02/2019 10:25

There should definitely be an announcement.

Agreed, especially now people are being logged out. There's a few threads expressing confusion as people have no idea why this is happening. MNHQ need to send emails or have a pop up to alert users as to what has happened, to make sure everyone knows rather than those who stumble onto this thread.

Upthepong · 07/02/2019 10:25

testing testing

Lovemusic33 · 07/02/2019 10:25

I just had to reset my passwords. I usually stay logged in all the time but today I was logged out, when I entered my password (which is saved on my iPad) it still wouldn’t let me in so I had to reset.

Realitea · 07/02/2019 10:26

I was logged out today. Thank god my phone remembered my password.

Even just a line or two on the log in screen as a temporary measure...

'Sorry we've had a small technical issue, and had to log all users out. Users may want to take this opportunity to update their passwords. We'll provide more information on this as it becomes available."

Freeeeeburd · 07/02/2019 10:29

@MNHQ

Please delete all of my posts, name history and any of my other data

JustineMumsnet · 07/02/2019 10:34

@SinisterBumFacedCat

Hi SBFC, No passwords would have been able to have been accessed because they are all encrypted. So there's no need to reset passwords.

BBInGinDrinking · 07/02/2019 10:34

No email received. After definitely successfully changing my password, I logged out and tried to log back in again. It would only let me log in with my old password. I'm not much of a swearer, but FFS. Enough mumsnet for today. I hope it's all sorted out PDQ.

IncrediblySadToo · 07/02/2019 10:38

MNHQ
Could you also please email me with a list of all log ins and activity on my account since Tuesday at noon.

FloofyCat · 07/02/2019 10:40

I'm reporting this post as I'm sure a lot of us would like the answer (especially those of us who post in FWR and have already been threatened by various people Hmm

How do we ask MNHQ to delete our accounts, all posts/messages/NC history.

I'm hoping we are not too late. This is extremely worrying indeed given the threats MNers have received on various topics.

IncrediblySadToo · 07/02/2019 10:43

Whomever said this is one the DM should pick up, is right

Why?

How on earth do you think having it spread around on the DFM is going to help anyone or anything?

goodbyestranger · 07/02/2019 10:45

I just sent a message to the person whose username I was logged in as so that she knew who had been able to access her account and to tell her I was only on for a minute or so and she could no doubt check that out with MN. I'd appreciate that if someone was logged in as me - not that I've got a lot to hide - and I'd probably thank the person too. Some people are a bit rude.

TheTitOfTheIceberg · 07/02/2019 10:47

I was logged out while moving between pages but couldn't log back in with my password - login page was just static. I wasn't aware of this issue at that stage so didn't try the 'forgotten your password' link (I came here to see if anyone else had had problems logging in this morning) so I've just re-registered with a new email address and added a definite article to my username.

Chrome version 72.0.3626.96, laptop.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 07/02/2019 10:50

Also logged out on desktop (Chrome) as well as phone. No problem logging back in on either.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 07/02/2019 10:50

How do we ask MNHQ to delete our accounts, all posts/messages/NC history.

Just a quick reminder that the benefit of deleting your posts is very limited - MN is massive now and cached in many, many places, so it's very easy to pull people's old posts if you knew how. There's little benefit in deleting them.

NC history and messages etc may be a different matter, it'd depend on MNs server settings and how long they are required to retain information for.

PorkPatrol · 07/02/2019 10:51

The real PorkPatrol posting here. Thank you to the poster who accidentally posted as me and alerted me to the data breach. I can confirm that I’ve had no email from HQ about it though so they certainly haven’t let everyone affected know that their account has been accessed.
Seriously considering asking for my entire history on here to be deleted at I no longer trust mn with my data.

TheBigFatMermaid · 07/02/2019 10:53

I found this after I had been forced to re log in. Quite glad really, as I keep meaning to get my password saved to my phone, but had forgotten it. Now I can take you all to bed with me, instead of staying up to finish reading.
