Fancy being a Mumsnet Local Tsar? (or should that be Tsarina?)

carriemumsnet · 11/06/2007 12:43

Are you the source of all local knowledge and gossip? We're looking to recruit committed Mumsnetters to take charge of each Mumsnet local site. The role involves galvanising other local Mumsnetters to make your section as up to date, full of listings and useful as possible, editing new postings for accuracy and checking out new places for possible inclusion.
It's a voluntary post but you can make as much (or as little) of it as you like, stick it on your CV if that would help and/or share it with another Mumsnetter if you're worried about time commitments. If it sounds like something you?d be interested in, sign up here and we'll send you some more info.

If the area you'd like to cover isn't mentioned, please feel free to add it in the "other" box at the bottom.

Thanks
MNHQ

Gosh Girleyshirly, you're actually quite rude, aren't you!

NikkiBFG · 21/06/2007 20:42

I've signed up for Bristol - anyone else for Bristol research with a lovely bubbly blonde....??? Going once....going twice.......

newlifenewname · 21/06/2007 20:46

girlyshirly (sp? can't be arsed to check, 'snot like I'm being paid to)

Anyone else signed up for St Albans?

TheArmadillo · 21/06/2007 20:47

ooh Nicky just started a thread on this in the Bristol one.

I signed up as well - do you want to work out how to split it or just go with the flow. I'm not bothered either way.

ScaryHairy · 21/06/2007 20:50

I'm moving to Haringey in August and would be happy to lend a hand to whoever is covering that area. It would be a nice way for me to meet people and get to know the place .

NikkiBFG · 21/06/2007 20:50

Happy to split

Tbh, even though I've read the e-mail from MNHQ...[blushes] I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to be doing!! lol!!! Have visions of me stalking into restaurants in manner of hotel inspector and going:

Ah ha!!! NO changing facilities in this one you un child friendly blardy bastards and then huffing out with my clipboard then duly reporting back!!!

TheArmadillo · 21/06/2007 20:55

ooh do you think we'll get a scary uniform (I'm thinking supernanny style/dominatrix style) and maybe a badge and if we're luckily superpowers!

Though a clipboard would do.

NikkiBFG · 21/06/2007 20:57

Oooh yes!! We need stern square black glasses (Prada of course - I mean we have to do it in style) and get to be all authoritive....mmm...I'm liking it!!

ELF1981 · 21/06/2007 21:10

GS - who rattled your cage?!

lulumama · 21/06/2007 21:12

don';t you love cowardly namechangers?

sorry if i sounded rude. just that these people are making/potentially big money and they get volunteers to do their work for them. what happened to the minimum wage? They are so sneaky, and sorry, if collecting names and numbers is your idea of fun..ahem .. oh well.

if you want to help others there is so much you can do for charities - volunteers are needed for loads of things. netmums is non profit and does this sort of listing thing. mumsnet is doing really well at the forum thing so why dont they stick at what theyre good at and not try and take over everybody elses corner of the web. downright greedy. sorry mumsnet leaders. you know this is all about profit. pay your researchers mumsnet rulers!!!

CanIBeAMousePlease · 22/06/2007 00:38

Netmums also get sponsored by babykillers, but don't let that spoil your rant.

girlyshirley · 22/06/2007 01:06

well, you cant say that all mumsnet ads are fairtrade, planet friendly or anything else.. mobile phones, easyjet, boots.. which sells products that are questionable, all ads accepted by the looks of things. babykillers - are you talking about nestle?

CanIBeAMousePlease · 22/06/2007 01:52

Yes, Nestle.

Why does MN having Tsarinas matter to you so much?

NBuGgeration · 22/06/2007 07:47

just one thing girlyshirley, the mn "leaders" are making a pitance running this site and it has been posted on here that they stood to lose their homes at one point.

So lining their pockets, they are not.

lulumama · 22/06/2007 08:01

pretty sure the people who run netmums have not accepted nestle sponsorship without some financial recompense

the internet is a vast place, there is room for netmums and mumsnet

and i tried netmums and found the censorship to be too great

i bet we couldn't debate like this there !

fryalot · 22/06/2007 08:24

hey, GS - if I was visiting or about to move to your town, would you not tell me where was a good place to go with my kids?
Would you tell me if I paid you?

All we're doing is recommending (or not) places that we know about as we live in the relevant area.

But I guess from your rudeness here that you would probably tell me to eff off if I tried to ask for your input, never mind volunteer the information

AitchIsntQueenOfTheInternet · 22/06/2007 08:42

By the way, girlyshirley, a lot of us DO do voluntary work for charities and all sorts of other organisations. That doesn't preclude us from taking part in this for Mumsnet.

I am woman - hear me multitask!

As to the comparison with Netmums -

They have forums. MN has forums.
They have local information. MN has local information.
Their information "has mostly been provided by other Netmums members." OH!

So your main issue here is that the MN founders have the temerity to run this site as a business?!

(should have guessed - any posting with the word "aitch" in it that isn't actually aitch herself is always going to be you )

this ranting is quite fun actually - people seem to think i'm someone else whose changed name - thats funny, atually ive never done forum chat before.. i'm not so rude as to tell sqonk to eff off though. i just spk my mind. if course i wouldnt tell a visitor to my town where to take their kids - unless they paid me lots of money .

losing their house??? have you seen the snazzy catalogue MN have in mothercare? they get commission on everything you buy from companies you click through on their site. i admire them loads BUT no sob stories please about them losing their homes. thats what the friends reunited couple probably said. If your local M&S said...pleeeese sweep the streets in front of our shop, its so much fun and it would be really helpful for people with kids. we'll make you an M&S czarina and you can put it on your cv... would you do it?????
