So how do we all feel about having Burger King banners?

Hello, hello,

Burger King have been in contact to ask us to pitch for some of their banner dvertising business due in September (not sponorship mind). We have Macdonalds on our banned list because of global domination, Mclibel and issues to do with their suppliers (Fast food nation critique) - it's not really about their products as such.

So our instinct is that BK is OK and we can try and relieve them of some cash...

But what thinkest you, MNetters, about the prospect of being confronted by someone eating a flame-grilled sausage sandwich - would you all flee in horror?

Anyway the burgers are small fry
Look at the adverts for flights - destroying the world for our dcs.

ledodgy · 24/05/2007 11:47

The Wimpy we used to have years ago was great then it turned into an HMV and Wimpy moved round the corner and they had plates and mugs it was never the same.

Peachy · 24/05/2007 11:48

Not ahuge issue for me tbh. CAn't say I like them much, but used sensible pretty harmless I suppose

ledodgy · 24/05/2007 11:51

Apparently Bean Burgers are higher in fat and calories than a whopper.

Yes they still do Spicy Bean Burgers MP and Olive (or at least they did a few months ago when we stopped at a motorway services for lunch).

I have to admit to quite liking them too -its rare to get something vegi and edible from a service station/fastfood outlet!

oliveoil · 24/05/2007 11:52

oh fat, smmmmmat

who really goes into one of these joints for a healthy salad?

hmmmm, I fancy some lettuce, I know, McDonalds!

fgs

no wonder all their profits went down

Ladymuck · 24/05/2007 11:55

Hadn't realised the rationale behind the McD ban actually. FWIW I dislike McDs because they specifically market fast food to chidren, whereas my perception is that BK doesn't, or at least not as much. It wouldn't even dawn on me to take my kids to BK whereas "Happy Meals" are ubiquitous.

Let the dosh roll in...

gess · 24/05/2007 12:07

PMSL at posting the fat contents & salt. I'm really suprised - I thought they were all low fat with no salt.... that must be where I'm going wrong.......

serenity · 24/05/2007 12:17

I'm happy {smile}

But then again, I didn't really care about the MacDonalds or Lunchables ones either (and yes, the DCs have eaten both but never as a direct consequence of seeing an advert on here!)

Have to say though that all this talk makes me really want a bacon double cheese burger with BBQ sauce. I had a huge craving for them when I was pg with DS2, the greasier the better!

teafortwoandtwofortea · 24/05/2007 12:21

take the money! As long as it's not one of those really annoying ads where it sort of 'leaps' out to get you from the side of the thread - they do p me off!

I think I've always associated the BK ads with adults - dwiw, I took DS1 there in a food 'emergency' and although he was really really hungry the only thing he ate was a chip and the fruit snack pack

LieselVentouse · 24/05/2007 12:35

Im liking BK

Tortington · 24/05/2007 12:37

i love that you ask in the firstplace - it makes me piss.

sure screw em over get some money buy yersel a new frock

cazee · 24/05/2007 22:24

I don't like it. BK are v similar to McDonalds. Junk food aimed at children, not good.

cazee · 24/05/2007 22:27

Found a good link that explains the problems with burgerking here

Take the money.

JustineMumsnet · 25/05/2007 09:39

Ok well, I think on balance this looks like an "OK" so we'll head off to pitch for it and fingers-crossed we'll be able to order our new frocks soon. We will make sure to pass on that any nutritional claims in the ads are likely to be very thoroughly investigated
Many thanks for the input,
M Towers

How lovely to be asked what we all think before making a decision!
