I am boycotting threads about the plight of the McCann family - anyone else?

I have the utmost sympathy for the Mccann family, and hope for a happy ending to thier trouble. Meanwhile I am not happy about many aspects of teh many threads, and hearby resolve to completely boycott them. By not clicking, not reading, nor responding (however horrible the views), and thus not adding to the circular and predicatable route they take, no matter what quality of ontervention is made.

Clasp your right hand over your left Nork and repeat the boycott pledge after me!

Zizou - this wasn't 'kicked off' or in reaction to anything in particular except more of same and ean observation that every time the whole pattern went round the block more and more shit got stuck to the shoe!

I really hope she is found soon. As for the threads, I have never posted on any of them and don't plan to.

Moomin · 21/05/2007 21:51

Yes yes yes. I strayed off the path for a bit and it made me very angry for a while but I promise not to do that again.

Count me in too.
I have been disgusted with some of the comments on here over the last few weeks.

Really have huge sympathy with the family and hope the little girl returns home safely

saggers · 21/05/2007 22:07

me too

eemie · 21/05/2007 22:23

Haven't fed the trolls. Have been amazed at the patience of some MNers trying to talk sense to those who don't recognise it.

I hereby convert my passive boycott into an active boycott.

Blu, I salute you

Eek, hadn't read these 'coz the whole thing just makes me so , but just went and had a peek to see what all the fuss was about on other threads - it's just awful!! Can't believe that mums can be so nasty to other mums about something so traumatic.
See, it's even driven me to post, and I'm not a fast typer.

Blu · 21/05/2007 23:34

Bump for those on the 'berated and confused' thread...telling them to leave it alone doesn't work, we know this....find peace and tranquility her amongst the boycotters - these threads have been out of active convos all day...don't bump them up now!

OP posts:
Twinklemegan · 21/05/2007 23:35

I haven't looked at any of them since the first couple of days. I have no idea whether they are criticising the McCanns or jumping on the getting involved bandwagon and I'm not going to read them to find out.

wrinklytum · 21/05/2007 23:39

Will bump.Haven't posted on them out of sheer distate of ghoulish speculation and unwarranted criticism.Hope the little girl is reunited with her parents soon.

Blu · 21/05/2007 23:42

Bumping for FortyPlus, come in forty-plus, your time is up

Phew, that was close! Glad you're safe, 40plus!

fortyplus · 21/05/2007 23:53

I posted on the other one because it was so horrid that I wanted it to stop. Whether we agree with leaving children alone or not is irrelevant; those poor people will be blaming themselves for what's happened for the rest of their lives.

Blu · 21/05/2007 23:57

Yes, we know there was a discussion this morning about bumping threads to 1000 posts but settled on a general boycott instead. But on the evidence, after 1000 posts another thread will spring up like a hand from a horror film grave, to start another!

Thank you... mops brow... any chance of a glass of wine to wash down the rescue remedy?

I love MN most of the time - especially the arguments - but that thread was just beyond the pale.

Blu · 22/05/2007 00:02

Here is a big glass of wine.
I'd join you and have one myself, but i am off to bed!
Night night!
