Has MN lost its sense of humour?

with offense being taken at all manner of inconsequential things?

quadrophenia · 03/05/2007 11:17

I think posting on antenatal is a good way of starting out on MN, people who have gone through this route seem to 'know' posters better.

oliveoil · 03/05/2007 11:18

I'm farkin hilarious wot you on abarrrrrrrrrt?

are you Rhubarb?

DrNortherner · 03/05/2007 11:18

Twig, it wasn't directed at anyone in particular. Just how I'm feeling atm.

MuminBrum · 03/05/2007 11:19

What's moggelling? Is it pimping your cat out to appear in catalogues, wearing frilly bonnets?

quadrophenia · 03/05/2007 11:20

Muinbrum

MamaG · 03/05/2007 11:23

wot Twig sed

FiveFingeredFiend · 03/05/2007 11:56

wot Northerner said

LieselVentouse · 03/05/2007 12:22

Ive just spent last half hour on a thread that says youve flounced.

IdrisTheDragon · 03/05/2007 12:27

I think it was decided yesterday that CD wasn't HunkerMunker.

EllieKthePA · 03/05/2007 12:29

not all A/N thread posters go nowhere else, i go all over the boards but i started out as, and still am, an A/N club member.

for what it's worth, i don't think they are done to annoy the rest of you, one of my thread titles caused offence a while ago, and we did try to make sure it wouldn't upset anyone, just sometimes our pg brains don't work so well and we failed

PeterAndreFanCLub · 03/05/2007 12:30

this kind of inward thread never helpos wnayone

ThomCat · 03/05/2007 12:32

It's all the aIBU threads, turning everyone into moaners!

AitchTwoOh · 03/05/2007 12:35

Twig's right, a bit of fucking consideration for the other users of the site and their sensitivities wouldn't go amiss. i wouldn't start an OP talking about my lovely friend who's just had the worst childbirth in history and her boy is damaged as a result, would i? i'd think 'no, that might frighten some of the pregnant ladies, i'll keep it to myself'.

and am still smiling at rowan's genital fear. she's so right, you know. fanjo's not funny any more. all mimsy were the borogroves...

AitchTwoOh · 03/05/2007 12:40

ellie, actually what was completely, completely different about that was that you ladies were surprised by the response, went 'yikes, sorry' and changed it accordingly. on the other thread someone had pointed out that the title might upset people long before my thread was started and they had refused to change it. and i did actually put a question in the OP, it wasn't just a moan, but most people didn't answer it.

anyway, cod's right, it's probably not a good idea to go over it all again. looks like connie's just stirring the shit again...

ConnieDescending · 03/05/2007 12:56

I didnt really have the antenatal threads in mind if you must know....I was thinking more innocent food threads going pyscho.

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 03/05/2007 12:57

'course you were...

ConnieDescending · 03/05/2007 13:07

uh...yes I was

OP posts:
Twiglett · 03/05/2007 13:17

oh shite ... were you thinking about my food thread going psycho?

that was just one of those things and it was only a few posters who have incredibly strong feelings about food that objected .. water under the bridge .. d'ya hear it lapping

ConnieDescending · 03/05/2007 13:20

oh that was one of many Twig

OP posts:
oliveoil · 03/05/2007 13:27

have I missed a food row?

sigh

I like rolling out "everything in moderation" or seeing how many times it is posted

then someone says "would you have heroine in moderation" completly overreacts and then it combusts

Boco · 03/05/2007 13:27

Twig i think i love you.

You seem to have reached enlightenment, but are still kind of tough. Maybe like bulletproof monk?

Daisybump · 03/05/2007 13:27

Without it all kicking off again AitchTwoOh...

The only comment we received before your post yesterday was.....

By Tutter on Mon 30-Apr-07 14:08:39
lol, you antenatalers do like to risk having the MN finger wagged at your thread titles don't you

Not exactly a damning indictment of the title is it or a request for us to change it and as there was no request to change it, we could hardly be accused of refusing to change it....and for the record we did apologise and we have started a new thread.

kimi · 03/05/2007 13:45

Everyone trying to out PC the next person and everyone stomping off over this of that being said.

If thats not funny i don't know what is.

AitchTwoOh · 03/05/2007 14:03

fair enough, daisybump, i do think it made a point which was obviously ignored. also, in all sincerity if you mean the 'make something up to take offence at' thread title, that doesn't exactly shriek of penitence.
there's a weird 'us and them' thing with the ante-natal threads, i think. the idea, surely, is to be part of an online community, not a fortress that assumes any question on grounds of taste comes from 'twunts' with no sense of humour. i have a cracking sense of humour, for the record. i'm happy that people have been luckier having children than i have, but i know how very upsetting i'd have found that title once. i'd never have said anything then, though, i'd just have felt sick every time it came up on active convos.

Tutter · 03/05/2007 14:07

daisybump, tbh i was v careful about the wording of my post as i wanted to avoid any defensive backlash

with hindsight i plain wimped out
