Gransnet strapline - we would love your thoughts

Gransnet, sister site to Mumsnet, has a new look and is now looking for a new strap line to match. We'd love you to help us choose it if you can. First a bit of myth-busting (in case anyone hasn't yet ventured on):

  1. You don't need to be a gran (just as on MN you don't need to be a mum)
  2. For those falling into the right sort of age bracket - roughly 50+ - it works really well alongside MN (they're very different. Both is good!)
  3. We're firm on two things - 50 isn't remotely old, and even if it were age is no barrier to pretty much anything.

The most popular suggestions so far have been the following (below) - but we'd love to know your thoughts - and indeed any alternative ideas.

Gransnet - for warmth, wit and wisdom

Gransnet - a bit older, a lot wiser

Gransnet - older, wiser but definitely not quieter

Many thanks
CariGransnet and LaraGransnet

They all sound quite patronising to me. What about "Gransnet, we're just people, don't hang a label on us"

Pansythepotter · 09/08/2017 15:40

Gransnet, Sharing,Caring and laughing

0nline · 09/08/2017 15:49

I think the new look is great BTW.

I'm a whisker away from 50 and I liked this one.

Gransnet - a bit older, a lot wiser

IdoHaveAName · 09/08/2017 15:54

Gransnet - where the only true wisdom is knowing you know nothing. You can pay Socrates for the royalties....

FurryDogMother · 09/08/2017 15:55

Gransnet - you get to hand them back!

IdoHaveAName · 09/08/2017 16:01

I think the tagline 'for warmth, wit and wisdom' probably hits the mark most appropriately.

Out2pasture · 09/08/2017 16:02

But there's no traffic on the site? Some of the active posts are over a month old...

JeremyCorbynsBeard · 09/08/2017 16:02

Gransnet - for the mother of all mothers

NapQueen · 09/08/2017 16:06

Gransnet - we swear too
Gransnet - because theres no Netgrans
Gransnet - Mumsnets Allumni
Gransnet - Mumsnetters of the Past

Kleptronic · 09/08/2017 16:12

Gransnet - old enough to know better, young enough to do it again.

Mychildcouldnotbreaatfeed · 09/08/2017 16:31

I don't think mentioning "older" is the right tone if that makes sense. It seems ageist to me.

I'd go for warmth wit and wisdom.

elQuintoConyo · 09/08/2017 16:31

Gransnet- we have Supergran on speed dial.

Mychildcouldnotbreaatfeed · 09/08/2017 16:33

Ohh elQuinto

She's got more bottle than united dairies

lucydogz · 09/08/2017 16:34

Why does it need a strapline? Has mn got one - i've never noticed . As a previous poster said, it seems fairly dead on it's feet. How about 'gransnet? Don't bother' (speaking as a 60 year old)

NapQueen · 09/08/2017 16:34

Maybe a Teensnet would be better?

Kpo58 · 09/08/2017 16:36

Gransnet - Old and outdated

terrylene · 09/08/2017 16:41

Hi

I think you need to update your menopause page. It still refers to the 2002 studies and stopping hrt at 60.

There have been new NICE guidelines out since November 2015 and there has been a lot of changes of thinking in approach over recent years. The BMS are doing a lot of work on education. Updating it to take these changes into account would make the site look more with-it Wink

"I'm a whisker away from 50 and I liked this one.

Gransnet - a bit older, a lot wiser"

I'm 49.5 and I hate it! But then I don't have kids so am never going to be a gran, and presumably not wiser either.

I don't think it should mention age at all, that's so yesterday.

'Warmth, wit and wisdom' sounds challenging and twee but of the three it's best.

Pansythepotter · 09/08/2017 17:26

I think sing 'wiser' is arrogant and older sends the wrong message.

Dumdedumdum · 09/08/2017 17:29

50+! Really? I'd assumed it was aimed more at 70+
I'm 47 and youngest isn't even at school yet.
WW&W sounds the best. Think we should make up a new MN one too.

FantasticButtocks · 09/08/2017 17:51

Gransnet - Old enough to know better!

TwitterQueen1 · 09/08/2017 17:58

How about Grumpy Old Git Net? (GOGnet)

I feel this is more appropriate somehow. I love a rant and a rave about stuff, but I don't go on Gransnet at all, even though I'm old enough Wink

I don't like the photo - she looks too much like June Whitfield (much as I love JW), ie slightly dotty 'older' lady. This is not me.

Mobile hairdressers are relevant no matter what age you are.
Make-up in your 70s - I've got a long way to go til that's relevant...

Would it not be better to incorporate 'Gran' issues into Topics?

TwitterQueen1 · 09/08/2017 17:58

Gogsnet - with an 's'

RosieTheRiveting · 09/08/2017 18:19

Gransnet - bold before our time.
