Can we have a board for people to rant about trans stuff?

Because I'm sick of clicking on a thread in aibu or chat and seeing vile being sprouted when the title gave no inclination that it was another anti-trans thread. It's getting boring now.

OP posts:
GerdaLovesLili · 03/08/2017 21:25

It's true of most things on here (the round and round). I don't think that a trans board is the answer either, but thank you for taking the time to make your thread title obvious.

CosmicPineapple · 03/08/2017 22:06

You are the only person to actually appreciate the effort made on that title.....felling a liitle emotoinal Grin

I should not have had to go to those lengths really. I should not be sensored or controlled but I am because i wanted my thread to stay on tooic (which it has)

SerfTerf · 05/08/2017 10:25

Trans hatred my arse

This.

LuLuuuuuuu · 05/08/2017 20:31

*Right now in the UK in 2017 there is the potential for a law to be introduced that could potentially endanger women and girls. All women and girls. That's half the population. And yet attempts to discuss it are being shouted down as bigotry and hatred. And if the law is passed it will be all but impossible to reverse.

I think this erosion of debate and freedom of speech, alongside the bill itself, is the single most terrifying thing to happen in my lifetime. And I'm old enough to remember a lot of scary stuff.*

Absolutely well said .

LuLuuuuuuu · 05/08/2017 20:31

And another bold fail !! I am putting the bloody * at the start and end .

Strummerville · 05/08/2017 21:38

It's because of the paragraph break Luluuuuu. You'd need to have the asterisks around the first para and then another set around the second.

^^this.

And people who don't get it are ignorant. I'm sorry, it's completely true. If you don't understand why people are upset about this is because you don't know what's going on.

treaclesoda · 05/08/2017 23:22

The weird thing that some women don't seem to grasp is that even if they are in the 'you're all nasty bigots' camp, that doesn't make them any less at risk. They don't undo the risk to themselves by being supportive of the rights of people who wish them harm. And men who would exploit legal loopholes to ensure access to places where women should be safe from them do wish women harm, even if it's not physical harm.

Datun · 05/08/2017 23:32

Totally. Any man who is that desperate to access women's spaces is very suspect indeed. And should be excluded on that basis alone.

LuLuuuuuuu · 06/08/2017 10:25

Thank You Strummerville

Regardless of what commenters are saying, MNHQ needs to treat all groups equally in their moderating, which they do not.

I've seen comments deleted for less than the vitriolic hatred against trans people in some posts, and those comments are deleted because "we don't abide by agism" etc.

CosmicPineapple · 11/08/2017 23:09

Nope not true. At all. Why are you making things up?

MNHQ will delete such post and tbf I have never seen the vitriolic hatred posts you speak of. Do you have any examples?

GerdaLovesLili · 12/08/2017 14:11

No, because they've all (thankfully) been deleted.

CosmicPineapple · 12/08/2017 14:17

I have been on alot of trans threads and not seen the "vitriolic hatred^ that appatently exsits. Confused

Plus your comment No, because they've all (thankfully) been deleted blows Darlings out the water.

KimKardashiansArse · 12/08/2017 14:30

Awful idea. As others have said, this is a huge issue for women and the people talking about it shouldn't be sidelined because you are "bored". Hmm

There will always be threads that you're not interested in here. If you don't like reading trans threads then don't click on them / click back.

ArcheryAnnie · 12/08/2017 14:36

What you dismiss as "trans stuff" affects every woman and girl, so it's no wonder it's all over the board. Our hard-won rights and spaces are being taken away. If there's any "vile" here, then it gets reported and deleted.

What action, OP, are you taking about the anti-women stuff being pushed forward by extreme trans activists? Or don't you care about that?

Ceto · 14/08/2017 08:17

Women aren't allowed an opinion on the new law they are trying to pass

Where does that come from? Where precisely does it say that Parliament will completely subvert all the rules around consultation and debate on any draft laws, and will ban women from the debating chamber?

Ceto · 14/08/2017 08:22

Totally. Any man who is that desperate to access women's spaces is very suspect indeed. And should be excluded on that basis alone.

Nonsense. Would you think someone like Jan Morris "very suspect indeed" for not wanting to use men's toilets?

sleighbellend · 14/08/2017 08:27

Yes, I would. HTH.

RiverTam · 14/08/2017 08:34

Women's groups have not been consulted, ceto. And Jan Morris is a transsexual, ie has had 'bottom' surgery. The majority of trans people (about 80%) are transgender, not transsexual. Toilets, sports etc are divided by sex, not gender. Sex is the protected characteristic.

As always, the people sqwaking about 'hate' haven't actually got any argument to back up their claim.

SuburbanRhonda · 14/08/2017 08:38

The issue of government not consulting women's groups about transgender issues was discussed and reported on widely after Channel 4 news interviewed Julia Long and Jack Monroe last year.

adlertippa · 14/08/2017 08:40

I 'unwatch' transphobic threads as soon as I realise what they are. Ideally I'd unfollow the whole of the TERF central 'Feminism' board but sadly still haven't worked out how. The only consolation is that as long as everyone is spouting bile in this echo chamber, they're hopefully not saying this stuff around trans folks.

sleighbellend · 14/08/2017 08:53

Do you tell trans activists who tell radical feminists to get raped, die in fires, drink bleach etc, that they're 'spouting vile'? Or is that just the trans folx punching upwards?

SuburbanRhonda · 14/08/2017 08:56

TERF central 'Feminism' board?

How immature.

Datun · 14/08/2017 09:02

Ceto

Parliament have indeed sent out an online survey to consult with the general public over this issue. At the beginning it asks you about your status, and identity. Unless you identify as LGBT, the survey doesn't let you complete.

adlertippa

If you had opened your eyes, instead of hiding threads, you would have seen the many transwomen on them who disagree with this proposed legislation as much as women.

There is no bile. Only informed opinion. For articles, see Miranda Yardley, a transwoman, and her partner, another transwoman, who write extensively about it.

If the term transgender described what used to be called transsexuals, but are now called 'Truscum' by the community, then I don't think many people would have much of a problem. Indeed, they never have.

Unfortunately the term now includes and promotes autogynephiles.

Here is a link explaining what it is, written by Yardley herself.

mirandayardley.com/en/a-history-of-autogynephilia/

She points out that the majority of transwomen are autogynephiles, not transsexuals. They usually retain their genitalia, remain attracted to women, and are aroused by being in women's spaces.

You may not listen to me, but I will listen to you. If you take the time to inform yourself over this issue, I promise, I will listen to any argument you have.
