i thought it was done to educate people on children with disabilities...
yet here we are with thread 13 about CG full of rubberneckers making disablist comments about brain damage Or should I say ignorant comments.
why is mn hq not saying hang on a minute this isn't in the spirit of the site and reminding posters of the TIMC Campaign .

Ah right I didn't realise it was purely because the parents had released details for public support, I thought it was released as part of the original court case.
I know it's obviously emotive I just don't understand why people can't voice their thoughts whether in support of the families wishes or the hospitals without such vitriol.

I actually agree Dixie that not much has happened. While I have found the thread interesting and commented on a couple of the very early ones, I have no idea how it'"s reached thread 14, with very little actually happening!
There are a few posters on there every day. It does feel like a bit of an obsession with some of them TBH.. in that sense it's not very different to CA.

Eh zzzzz The very first post on this thread referenced Charlie Gard. I think you'll find that' s why people are talking about it!

User843022 · 23/07/2017 17:28

Because zzz it went off on a tangent due the op putting 'rubbernecking' in the op.

Actually I stand corrected. I hadn't seen the latest CG thread but looking through it it does seem like the same posters picking apart and analysing every quote. I thought different people were contributing. You would think after they'd posted a few times they'd have exhausted all they had to say really.

'yet here we are with thread 13 about CG full of rubberneckers making disablist comments about brain damage Or should I say ignorant comments. '

Because zzzz, , ^ that was in the op. That was what has been responded to

nauticant · 23/07/2017 17:59

This business of complaining that posters are discussing Charlie Gard on a thread referring to Charlie Gard in the OP is really peculiar. Or highly disingenuous.

SouthWestmom · 23/07/2017 18:02

Not really nauticant. Having 14 threads basically criticising the parents of a very ill and disabled baby for their choices is pretty disturbing in light of the whole parents for parents and TIMC campaign. So I suspect the op was trying to debate this and not pick over the detail like vultures.

nauticant · 23/07/2017 18:05

Like I said, highly disingenuous.

otterlieriver · 23/07/2017 18:06

You make it sound like they've just randomly decided to pick on his parents, Noeuf

It's a huge news item.

Nauticant I don't think you know what disingenuous means. But I guess what you are trying to say is that complaining on one thread about people on another thread talking about other people is hypocritical? Which could be a fair ish point I suppose.

SouthWestmom · 23/07/2017 18:24

Anyway I don't have anything else to contribute. There's no point making the same argument over again , which is what I guess part of my issue with the CG threads is.

Not much at all has happened since the threads started, you could sum it up in a couple of sentences all that has happened since Gosh have taken it back to court

I summed up part of it upthread, involving around 15 separate developments - and that doesn't even cover everything. But, of course, the threads have also ranged over several much wider issues including the legal principles involved, legal aid, the nature of medical investigations, the use of social media, the use of publicists, a number of related cases - and, indeed, whether it is appropriate to keep quoting from the CA Facebook page. And some totally unrelated posts inquiring about individual posters' health, whether to set up a separate FB discussion, why posts appear twice - in fact the usual diverse stuff that appears in virtually any long-running social media discussion. I fear you will have to be asked to excuse MN for the crime of having posts that you don't personally believe to be necessary.

Wow, so a taat is allowed to stand, but I'm deleted for talking about what other forums out there are saying. bizzareConfused
