Bad Mother - the new comedy series exclusive to Mumsnet

Hello all,

Come and have a look at the very first episode of , a new comedy web series which we'll be showing exclusively on Mumsnet over the next six weeks.

It's a very relatable (and very sweary) show that we hope you'll enjoy - each episode is about five minutes long, so just right for watching with a (microwaved) cuppa while the kids run wild entertain themselves.

We'll remind you on our Mumsnet Facebook page every time a new episode goes live - so if you're not yet following us, now's the time to do so.

The series follows a beleaguered stay-at-home mum (Star Stories' Laura Patch, with Kevin Bishop as her husband) who's trying her best not to bugger up this parenting lark. Each episode tackles a particularly challenging parenting scenario - so if you've ever muttered under your breath about other people's children, dreaded yet another playdate, or felt some affinity with the phrase 'benign neglect', we think you'll find something to snigger over in Bad Mother.

Let us know what you think.

Sort of flat line here.

Was too short. But wouldn't have wanted it any longer!

Love this. More please. And can I have a part? Will add much needed diversity. I have a friend with a child called Kitt. Does this help? 😂 Also one looking forward to the return of Motherland.....

iwasyoungonce · 25/06/2017 00:08

I liked it! Smile

OlennasWimple · 25/06/2017 00:50

Bit close to Bad Moms?

Didn't Outnumbered cover similar territory years ago?

Rhubarbginisnotasin · 25/06/2017 06:14

Anyone who was a member of the original Bad Mothers club will more than likely look at these clips as being about 15 years behind the times.

RainbowBriteRules · 25/06/2017 07:08

I liked it Smile. Cliched yes but all very familiar to me. Anything that makes me feel better about being scatty and disorganised and emphasises the constant laundry makes me smile.

Not as good as Outnumbered, Bad Moms or Motherland but for a 5 minute MN programme I didn't expect it to be.

tearsinmyeyes · 25/06/2017 07:44

Brave of mumsnet to peddle this patronising rubbish to an audience as cynical and as abrasive as the one here
Hastily put together cliches , forced dialogue
And the house was too tidy.

Noisybastardsshutup · 25/06/2017 07:51

I wanted to love it but didn't. I thought it felt a bit flat. It might have been because I was distracted by the non matching pegs and the awful way of hanging out washing.

brexitstolemyfuture · 25/06/2017 08:38

2/10 not very original bad clone. Why not try something new rather than a poor copy?

Pumperthepumper · 25/06/2017 08:42

It's very, very predictable.

Oblomov17 · 25/06/2017 10:52

Was good. A tiny bit too forced though?

YellowPaisley · 25/06/2017 11:08

Love it!

Epipgab · 25/06/2017 11:44

Cheesy or not, I enjoyed it Grin

TSSDNCOP · 25/06/2017 11:58

It was a revelation. I don't have a line, but loved how she went along taking dry off into one basket then had another wet basket ready to go back on herself.

I'm actually be good serious!

QueenMortificado · 25/06/2017 12:17

Forced, cheesy, cliched

So bored with mummies being reliant on gin and wine and daddies being useless

Wasn't there anything original you could do?

RainbowBriteRules · 25/06/2017 12:28

I just found so much of it to ring true though? The constant laundry, awkwardness of kids' parties, career confusion, men often not having a clue, and yes, looking forward to wine at the end of the day. It was cliched but it just seemed so, so realistic to me. I suppose I am the MN middle class cliche though!

OurMiracle1106 · 25/06/2017 15:01

This made me laugh whilst doing my gym cool down 😂

upwardsandonwards33 · 25/06/2017 15:54

Thought it was great and wanted it to be longer Smile

brexitstolemyfuture · 25/06/2017 16:16

I shared this on my FB, sorry but to be honest because it was so poor.

All the comments were very negative apart from one who liked that they shot it in crouch end, but that was all she liked.

I wouldn't spend any more money making any other episodes other than this pilot. Hire some good creative people and talented writers and come up with something decent.

MargotLovedTom1 · 25/06/2017 16:27

The main thing that struck me was that Kevin Bishop must be on his uppers; he had his own show at one point, but now he's doing five minute shows on Mumsnet TV (no disrespect to Mumsnet TV but it's not exactly Channel 4).

diddl · 25/06/2017 16:49

I thought that it was awful & too predictable.

Was obvious that when "Kit's" mum was there the twatty dad would spill that "Bad Mother" didn't like him.

Just went on too long.

She had plenty of time to shut the fucker up as it was so obvious where it was headed.

Djchickpea · 25/06/2017 17:09

Liked it

5LiveSportsExtra · 25/06/2017 18:42

Not sure why it was called "Bad Mother" and not "Dick Father". She was just getting on with it and he was an arse doing something I've never witnessed anyone doing. Too forced for me.
