What is MNHQ really like?

Is it like a call centre with little cells cubicles for staff? Or it is a trendy Google type HQ with beanbags and table tennis tables everywhere?

Do you have a list of 25 make up products to wear like "Beauty" counters in shops? Do you all wear polo shirts with MN logos on? Or boiler suits and funny caps like the minions in a bond film?

Do you have tai chi before work and sing the Mumsnet anthem? Is there a canteen with Pom Bears and a gin dispenser?

it looks quite nice. I always imagined it to be a tiny, cramped office, the air would be blue with cigarette smoke and there would be empty gin bottles on every surface.

PidgeyfinderGeneral · 05/01/2017 18:38

I love the fact we mostly think MN are pissheads. Grin

paxillin · 05/01/2017 19:58

New recruits probably aren't, PidgeyfinderGeneral. A couple of shifts sorting out half term trollery and late night bunfights and the gin tap is required.

hazeyjane · 05/01/2017 20:12

Well they all wear boilersuits, red ones and those visor sunglasses like the aliens wear in V.
The HQ is actually in a secret location (in Hangar Lane)
The exterior looks like a half demolished building in an industrial estate, but inside it is very swish - velvet walls, deep shagpile, those egg chairs that hang from the ceiling and if you touch any button (there are a lot of buttons and levers) a wall opens revealing a well stocked drinks cabinet and lots of tins of cat food.
There are white cats everywhere, in diamond encrusted collars who are all called Lady something (hence the cat food)
Lunch is served at 12.15 on the dot and is always based around crackers and meat paste.

Imagine working somewhere you are not only allowed, but supposed to have a MN window open all day!

TheMortificadosDragon · 05/01/2017 23:48

But are they allowed to participate incognito? (I was a bit disappointed that a MortificadoMNHQ didn't appear). Surely there must be times when some of them want to appear, not in blue-boxed splendour, for an ODFOD or suchlike.

TiggyCBE · 07/01/2017 21:12

I dare say a few are still in hospital after eating lemon drizzle brick.

cozietoesie · 08/01/2017 12:25

Not appearing in blue splendour is usually a hanging offence, Dragon. (At least it is on other websites where you proffer some policy thought.) Alternatively, they might be required to have a 'personal discussion' with Olivia of course. Grin

An exterior view of MNHQ:

What is MNHQ really like?
Theweasleytwins · 08/01/2017 21:41

I had a dream I was there once... It was cool

MsHooliesCardigan · 09/01/2017 09:42

Where actually is MNHQ or is it a closely guarded secret? And how do you get a job there?

paxillin · 09/01/2017 10:47

And how do you get a job there? Its a kind of community service. You get sentenced to it after your third spell on the naughty step, to show you what it is like to moderate all those bunfights you've caused.

PuraVida · 09/01/2017 10:51

I went there once. Took this snap

What is MNHQ really like?

TheMortificadosDragon · 09/01/2017 13:10

Uncanny, pura, except for the absence of cake.

EmmaMumsnet · 09/01/2017 14:29

TiggyD though my "turd brick" of a lemon drizzle cake may not look fancy, I was told it was the best lemon drizzle many MNHQers have ever tasted Cake None of them are in hospital! Wink

TanteRose · 09/01/2017 14:34

I've been to HQ - there was no cake Sad

TheMortificadosDragon · 09/01/2017 14:38

Take no notice of him, his CBE is 'Cake Brick Envy'.

sarahnova69 · 09/01/2017 14:48

I imagine it done up like Camila Batmanghelidjh's office

I'm pretty sure I'll have a headache all day after looking at that.

paxillin · 09/01/2017 15:03

Bloody hell, Camila Batmanghelidjh didn't wear bright clothes at all, that was merely camouflage to blend into her office!

TiggyCBE · 09/01/2017 18:49

@EmmaMumsnet

I'm sure it was a lovely cake and that all the survivors really appreciated it.

FruJustFru · 10/01/2017 07:20

MsHooliesCardigan, MNHQ's address used to be on the website - but I've noticed it isn't any more, it was probably deleted after JeffreyGate. But it's in NW London.

And here's their recruitment page www.mumsnet.com/info/jobs-at-mumsnet

NapQueen · 12/01/2017 22:51

I wonder if the ones who post on the threads and keep the peace sit on some sort of stage, and it's every newbies/ temps/bog cleaners dream to graduate to the Stage?

Do you work shifts or is there a specific Night Team? If so are they very pale and grumpy and effing lazy like ours?

kelper · 12/01/2017 22:54

AnnMumsnet, in the first photo you posted, could you ask the lady standing at the back in the grey top where she purchased said top, as it looks gorgeous and I want one.
As you were....
