So I clicked on a thread I had been commenting on and this appeared across my screen. Couldn't see an X to close it and it didn't disappear. Came off the thread and back on and it's gone again now. Strange.

Seriously the tech people cannot fix this?? The site is unusable!!

So annoying! Using Safari on iPhone.

Safari on iPhone - continue to have problems - just had same as ifart makes it impossible to read. Had a x in it - click it and respond asking why you want to close it. Tells you it has closed it - while it remains there making the page unreadable. Argh.

I thought it had stopped but I just had to refresh the page 6 times to get rid of it.

They're back again...

Oh look, a different type. Covers the entire left hand side of the screen top to bottom, instead of the entire top half.

I got this one but was pleased to see that it had an x on the corner to close it. Sadly clicking the x made the Ad closed by google message come up but didn't actually close the ad...

giffgaff ad annoying me as well.

It seems to be pinned to the start bar, so it doesn't disappear as you scroll up, but stays where it is, blocking text. No close icon that I can see. Refreshing the pages mostly works, bit is a nuisance.

Like the other large, garish, uncloseable pop ups of theirs I've come across before, it's puts me off ever seriously considering buying any product from them. (Same goes for uber).

Quick Update, I am online with the Google engineers and we are really trying hard to get to the bottom of this, we are trying out a few things but cannot be certain if it will work, can you please post on this thread if you still see the issue and more importantly if it has stopped.

I'm still getting it occasionally, android, mobile browser, Chrome.

It's mainly the giffgaff one.
