Small font on mobile... Sometimes

So for the last few days mumsnet has sometines been showing a smaller font (perfectly legible) almost like it is zoomed out?

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay! Tech reckon this is font size on chrome browsers, which you can twiddle with to fix.

So, on the chrome browser on mobile, if you click the menu option which is on the top right hand corner of the browser and then click the "Accessibility" option there should be a text scaling bar where you can set the percentage to a higher zoom rate for the the text.

As far as tech can see, it looks like the font is set to a lower percentage, which means the text looks smaller.

As for those purple milk ads, we are testing a new ad format and so this is how it's actually meant to be. It's in place of a leaderboard and mpu, so it's not actually taking up more screen space in total but might take a bit of getting used to.

They are capped at once per user, per day, so it shouldn't be too intrusive! As ever, we welcome all feedback, so please do keep your thoughts coming.

That's not the problem.

This happens intermittently (plus my font size is at 100%) and only on Mumsnet.

As an aside, the milk adverts are terribly placed and make the page look broken

A couple nor for easy comparison.

It went away once I refreshed.

Also (I'll stop in a minute) if you look, it's not just the text that is changing size. The icons are too (the 3 at the top, the arrow one pointing down, the ellipses).. unless they are text?

It's not a font size issue.

Tech are taking another look into this, we'll update once we know more.

Looks like the correct fonts for the page are intermittently not being loaded onto some users' phones, which results in the incorrect font being used, looking too small on some devices. We're trying to figure out why you're experiencing this intermittent behaviour. Apologies, and will post again when I have more information.

It's happening for me now too, looks like it's not allowing the mobile site and is just on Desktop only, even if you use the link at the bottom of the page. It flicked over for me while I was mid way through a thread

I'm getting a similar problem but mine seems to be that adverts etc have suddenly started showing down the right hand side therefore shrinking the amount of space for threads to show. I'm on iPhone 6.

That's not a fault, that's a new style of intentional advertising. As explained earlier in the thread.

No, it's not the milk ads. It's the DOTD sidebar etc. They never used to show on the mobile version but suddenly have the last couple of days. It's made everything so small I can't read it without zooming in.

I also used to have buttons at the bottom of the screen to easily get to threads I'm on, watching etc and those have vanished too.
