Wedding dress thread

Has it vanished? I was watching it but can't find it any more. At least I think so was watching it but now I'm doubting myself!

OP posts:

I do think she should've just been honest and said she wasn't happy with the changes instead of deleting and blocking you though. The dress looked really lovely on the thread. It's a real shame that you can put yourself out for a stranger to have it thrown back in your face.

AGruffaloCrumble · 29/07/2016 10:18

What would have been an acceptable alternative? She knew she had a massive following going on and that she would end up being slated for changing it or admitting she didn't like it. I think she got caught up in the whole thing and didn't know what to do. She could have admitted it but people still would be calling her ungrateful and self absorbed on here.

notapizzaeater · 29/07/2016 10:28

I agree, if she had second thoughts afterwards it would have been so hard to admit it here, so many people where invested in it.

Glad it looked lovely and you don't mind, ilove you are an angel x

tribunalupfrontfeesjustunfair · 29/07/2016 10:30

An acceptable alternative would of been to, contact ilove, advise her, that although the alterations she made were a vast improvement, on the disaster left by the previous dressmaker, she had taken a few more suggestions and combined ilove's ideas with some others and now had the perfect dress. Rather than delete and block, which is shameful behaviour towards someone, who gave up their time and made considerable effort, to help a stranger in need.

ThoraGruntwhistle · 29/07/2016 10:42

Very true that she was somewhat painted into a corner but I agree with this ^

AGruffaloCrumble · 29/07/2016 11:06

I'm not saying she was right to do what she did but I can imagine her feeling backed into a corner and just wanted to bury her head in the sand. I don't think it was right but I would be mortified to have taken up so much of her time. ilove has been incredibly gracious about the entire thing, but that still doesn't make it comfortable to say you don't like someone's hard work. Still not acceptable, I'm not defending the blocking and deleting but I just don't agree with others slating her on her which she will probably read.

Excited101 · 29/07/2016 11:33

Ohhh I'm sorry to have missed this- I remember the thread at the beginning but that's all. I'd have loved to have seen pictures etc.

Hope you're ok ilove

saffronwblue · 29/07/2016 11:39

Ilove I am sorry this turned out this way. It doesn't take away from the wonderful generosity and spontaneous kindness you showed , which as others have said is about so much more than a wedding dress.

ilove · 29/07/2016 17:35

So today involved 38 fillings, one tooth out, one child collapsing.

I'm utterly shattered.

Happy Wedding Anniversary to me!

LineyReborn · 29/07/2016 18:04

Good grief. Hope the children are all ok now.

Happy Wedding Anniversary!

wombattoo · 29/07/2016 18:22

ilove - I'm sorry you lost the original thread, but I will repeat here similar to what I said - You are a truly amazing, selfless, giving person, which is evident in what you do. I am from the same city as you, and the city should be proud to have you.
Happy anniversary Wine Cake Thanks

ilove · 30/07/2016 15:05

So this afternoon we've hired the local ice rink for the children, they gave me it half price and it includes skate hire etc, they are all very excited!

And thanks to you amazing folk, on Tuesday all the children are going to London for the day! British Rail have donated the train tickets for free, and we have book a river cruise, they'll see Buckingham Palace, and the Harry Potter trolley and platform 9 3/4 along with loads of other stuff. (We have the HP film in Russian for them to see, so they're really excited about that!)

The dentist was utterly horrendous yesterday, 38 fillings, one extraction, one child collapsed, and three of them need to go back for more doing. Right now, all 8 of them hate me...tbh I hate myself for putting them through it.

MrFMercury · 30/07/2016 15:07

But for the best reasons. Hopefully your fabulous trip will cheer you all up :)

Georgiesgirl · 30/07/2016 21:40

You're amazing, ilove.

WalrusGumboot · 02/08/2016 13:30

Oh no, sorry to hear the update. Ilove, I hope that crapartist will one day pay your good deed forward, when she eventually emerges from the wedding bubble.

I hope you're having an amazing day in London!

LineyReborn · 08/08/2016 14:22

You must be exhausted by now! Smile

WellErrr · 08/08/2016 14:38

What a lovely thing you're doing for those children Flowers

What's the story behind them coming? I can't remember.

HugItOut · 08/08/2016 20:29

I was one of the first posters on the original thread and was Confused when I couldn't find the promised update.

I'm so sorry it turned out so badly. Wanting to change iloves work was completely OK but blocking and deleting ilove was shabby and cowardly Confused.

ilove. I hope you and the kids have a great time tomorrow. Thanks

SouthWestmom · 08/08/2016 20:50

Blimey Ilove how come you have 8 children to cope with? I missed all the charity details , surely you can't be on your own with 8 little visitors?!!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 08/08/2016 22:52

Blimey iLove - sorry to hear what happened with Crapartist, but, like some others, I can understand why she did it in the panic of the moment. Too public - everyone had said how great the changes were, she wasn't quite happy, if she'd said on the thread that she'd changed it again, a lot of people would have jumped on her for wasting your time and effort, I'm sure. So much easier to just delete it all! A bit shocked about the FB Block though, that's poor :(

But for your visiting children, that thread was a triumph! Sorry the dental trip was on your Wedding Anniversary (congratulations, btw!) but sounds like it was a very needed mission!

Just a warning, which I doubt you need, but the Platform 9 3/4 installation at King's Cross is VERY busy. VERY VERY busy! It's on the main concourse, next to the Harry Potter shop (don't go in there, for the love of god, unless you have plans for a second mortgage!) and there is a roped section around it for queuing purposes.
I took the boys there last time we were in the UK, but decided it was too busy (we had a lot else planned) and we were going to the HP Studios near Watford anyway, where they have 3 or 4 more of them set up for photography purposes. Much easier for us! But not for you, of course.

Anyway, good luck with your London trip - hope it all goes smoothly! And well done to you again Thanks

ilove · 08/08/2016 23:13

I'm knackered. Absolutely knackered. And we're only halfway through.

But you know what...they've got rosy cheeky. And energy. And they fling them selves at me for a hug.

Liverpool tomorrow. Beatles and Anfield. 18 kids. Wish me luck!!!

LineyReborn · 09/08/2016 19:18

Good luck SmileFlowers

giraffesCantReachTheirToes · 07/09/2016 23:04

callmeadoctor · 15/10/2016 23:20

browndollXo · 10/10/2017 16:56
