Has it vanished? I was watching it but can't find it any more. At least I think so was watching it but now I'm doubting myself!

Hahahahaha. Well, maybe...it's gotta be the proper stuff tho! Can't stand Gordon's lol

gingerbreadmanm · 26/07/2016 13:39

Oh ilove i too followed the original thread which just got better and better the further it one and showed what a truly kind hearted (as well as talented) person you are.

It is a shame that whatever it was she didn't like she couldn't tell you. You put yourself out a lot with your time especially with everything else you had on.

You did a great job (i didn't realise you weren't professional!) well done. Maybe a quick message to MNHQ will get you a copy of all the kind things said? If not we can all just add new ones here! flowers

AndYourBirdCanSing · 26/07/2016 13:41

I don't understand as the dress looked beautiful after you had done your alterations ilove. Much better than original design.

P1nkP0ppy · 26/07/2016 13:44

((Hugs)) Ilove (bugger them being unMNsy)

I would be feeling pretty hurt if I was you, I thought you were absolutely amazing and did a fabulous job on the dress.

Oblomov16 · 26/07/2016 13:54

Oh dear. This has made me really sad. Poor you ilove.

LilacInn · 26/07/2016 13:54

All the sewing-on of those sequins and other effort; surely she didn't discard?

I saw the photos and your alterations VASTLY improved the style of the dress and the way it looked on the bride's body.

Now knowing she was dissatisfied with not one but two seamstresses' work, one might conclude that her expectations of how she would appear were unrealistic. Sometimes people get a mental image & don't like what the mirror tells them.

ilove · 26/07/2016 14:18

It's ok, honestly. I enjoyed doing it

hooliodancer · 26/07/2016 14:28

I think that's a bit mean! The dress really did look awful on her after what the first dressmaker had done.

I think insulting crapartist is a bit low from people. I reckon it's precisely because she was grateful and aware of the time spent etc etc that she just didn't know how to handle not liking it. And if you can't be self absorbed on your wedding day when can you? She said she handled it badly. I think there should be a bit of putting yourself in her shoes before calling her names.

I love what ilove did. It is so rare sadly, and the dress looked fabulous afterwards. The result was hurtful, but doesn't take away from what she did so selflessly.

FeelingSmurfy · 26/07/2016 14:36

ilove I agree with a PP, Mumsnet as a whole is proud of you!

You did a wonderful thing and a fantastic job too, above that you managed to raise a lot of money for a very worthy cause. You really do have a heart of gold

ilove · 26/07/2016 15:01

You're all lovely, Thankyou. The lovely woolly hugs folk are still happy to be go between for anyone who still wants to donate for the children - I don't expect anyone to send anything of course, I'm onlys saying because I've been asked a couple of times xxx

cookiefiend · 26/07/2016 22:51

Ilove you really are superwoman- looking after your family, fostering and Chernobyl not to mention helping strangers on the internet. I am in awe of you. A reminder for the rest of us who are "too busy" to pull our socks up and try a little harder to reach out to those around us.

Have a wonderful summer.

GlitteryFluff · 26/07/2016 23:04

What a shame that lovely thread got deleted and it's all gone sour. I thought crap looked great. Ilove you did an amazing thing for a stranger on the Internet. I imagine it is awkward for her to say she wasn't fully happy and wanted to alter it but she's right in that she could have handled it better. Glad she's been in contact with you though.
I saw the pics after you'd done your thing - What did she change?

HeyMamacita · 26/07/2016 23:13

Deleted and blocked you ilove Shock

You're going to get soooooo much good karma FlowersFlowersStarHalo

HeyMamacita · 26/07/2016 23:13

I would be interested to know what she changed too as you had done a beautiful job.

HemanOrSheRa · 26/07/2016 23:18

Several times over the last couple of manic weeks of the school year I've caught myself starting to whinge, thought of ilove and pulled myself together Smile.

I only lurked a bit on that thread as I didn't see it until it was all done with but you did such a amazing thing ilove and have taken it so so well far better than I would have. Even if crap did feel awkward, it was a pretty shitty thing to delete and block you!

NisekoWhistler · 26/07/2016 23:25

Wow Ilove you truly are one in a million. You were incredibly kind and generous to crapartist and the way you have handled the block on Facebook is so very admirable.

My thoughts are that she has been absolutely hounded to death by the press and gone into shut down mode. She'll be so exhausted from wedding stress now that her big day is over, give her plenty of time to recover, enjoy her honeymoon and then I dearly hope in time she will explain her self better to you than just the quick exchange you've had today.
Keep being your amazing self WineCakeFlowers

ilove · 27/07/2016 07:33

I'm taking all 8 Belarussian children to the dentist on Friday, then on Saturday I've booked an ice rink for them, and on Monday it's the seaside! Can't wait to see their faces when they see the sea for the first (probably only) time in their lives

GinAndOnIt · 27/07/2016 07:36

Really sad to read this update, I saw the original dress but not the alterations you did ilove - I really, really hope this doesn't put you off being such a wonderful human being to others too. We could all learn a thing or two from you.

I'm glad she eventually messaged to explain though. What did you do to the dress and then what did she change?

stayathomegardener · 27/07/2016 09:14

Just wanted to add ilove that I too was inspired by you and all you do, I have since made changes in my life after thinking about you.
I wonder if you realise that the
thread was so much bigger than a wedding dress and alterations.

stayathomegardener · 27/07/2016 09:15

The irony is the deleting and blocking now makes this classic Daily Mail fodder.

Takingsooty · 27/07/2016 09:39

What you did ilove was such a lovely gesture. Regardless of the outcome you showed that there are some really special people out there.

ilove · 27/07/2016 09:50

The daily mail can sod off.

Just replying to gardener above, I honestly don't see myself as anything any different to 99% of other folk, I certainly don't think I'm special at all. In fact I'm quite sure I'm a right royal PITA most of the time, haha! Currently at the Gp waiting for my B12 injection - missing my usual get up and go!

AGruffaloCrumble · 27/07/2016 09:53

Glad she was in contact and you got some closure. She definitely could have handled it better but I don't think she deserves to be slagged off by other posters here. She probably felt absolutely awful that she'd taken up your time and didn't like the alterations and tried to hide it from you that she'd changed them. I thought they were great but it's not my wedding dress or one of the biggest days of my life.

I am shocked at what a self-centered ingrate the bride turned out to be, after stirring up all that drama and taking up a large part of a stranger's weekend. Unbelievable.
Incredibly harsh. She probably felt really awful about it. It is awkward to turn around and say "oh sorry you've spent all weekend doing that but I don't actually like it" after someone has gone to so much effort. You shouldn't have to wear a wedding dress you don't love to save someone's feelings.
