Has it vanished? I was watching it but can't find it any more. At least I think so was watching it but now I'm doubting myself!

Oh what a disappointing and sad update :(

I feel crapartist handled things really badly tbh, considering you had made it clear all along that if she wasn't happy with the alterations then you would be ok with that.

I actually got goosebumps reading the original thread, as it really did feel like it was MN at its best, so it's a huge shame it's gone sour.

You did an absolutely fantastic job on the dress ilove I can't imagine how it could have looked any nicer! It's just a huge shame this has made you wary of helping people in the future.

Hope you feel a bit better after your b12 injection Flowers

Paniniswapx3 · 27/07/2016 10:04

Sorry to hear the outcome but don't be disheartened ilove as you brightened things up for a lot of people on here, myself included, so thank you for that.

Shock

There's nowt so queer as folk

LilacInn · 27/07/2016 11:25

She deserves 'harsh' as far as I am concerned. If you are that picky, and difficult to please, don't drag innocent bystanders in to your drama. She should have engaged and PAID another professional seamstress to work to her specifications instead of taking advantage of the kindness of a a busy stranger.

acatcalledjohn · 27/07/2016 11:33

How disappointing! Shame you've been deleted and blocked on FB too. All you did was offer kindness.

ilove · 27/07/2016 11:38

Really it is ok. I fully understand her wanting the perfect dress, we all would, and I'm not at all bothered she changed it again. The changes were to a different version of what I did - not beaded, and simpler than the sleeves I added, and she looked beautiful. I was on the right lines I guess, just not perfect.

It's ok. Really, it is.

Zucker · 27/07/2016 12:14

It's a shame she couldn't get over herself and go back to the original dressmaker that wrecked the dress to sort it out then. Using up Ilove's time and goodwill is not fair.

Paniniswapx3 · 27/07/2016 13:18

Did she not pay you ilove?? I assumed she paid for your time & effort but it's shocking if she didn't.

Zucker · 27/07/2016 13:23

Yeah here's a bottle of gin, while yeah it's an in joke on MN it doesn't pay for petrol, time spent travelling and hand sewing sequins.

This has really annoyed me this morning, presumably iloves prototype was used by a dressmaker to complete the "vision".

IggyPopsicle · 27/07/2016 17:22

I bloody well hope she paid you, iLove, and I hope it was in cold hard cash for your time and materials.

You sound like the most generous, warmhearted person and if you offered to sort my wedding dress, I'd happily walk down the aisle in any of your creations....even if it was a bin liner spattered in bird shit OK maybe not Grin

ilove · 27/07/2016 20:43

She paid for all materials of course, and I didn't want paying. I had gin and chocolate and a donation to the charity, and that's absolutely lovely :)

MrFMercury · 27/07/2016 21:07

Do you mean she wore a different dress altogether ilove?

ilove · 27/07/2016 21:45

No, she took off what I'd done and had something else done to the original dress

LineyReborn · 27/07/2016 21:56

I expect it was modelled on what you did?

tribunalupfrontfeesjustunfair · 27/07/2016 22:00

Hello ilove, I've been following the " operation wedding dress " thread, before it was deleted. To me, it was not ok, to block you on FB and delete everything you did on here. You gave your time to help a stranger in need and were treated in an appauling way. ( I'm sorry to me, there is no excuse ) It would not of been difficult to contact you and explain. For what it's worth I think you made an amazing offer, and gave up your time to help a stranger in need, that deserved, at the very least, an exlanation as to why the decision to delete was made !

AndYourBirdCanSing · 27/07/2016 22:08

I would love to see what she had done after as I thought it looked beautiful. The only thing I can think is that she had it altered to give her more coverage? Maybe she felt self conscious about how her arms/back looked in the end

ilove · 27/07/2016 22:14

Yes it was very similar to what I did, but actually has less coverage. Perhaps what I did was OTT

LineyReborn · 27/07/2016 22:20

It was a homage to your work Smile

You are so lovely. I'd be so less chilled than you.

AndYourBirdCanSing · 27/07/2016 22:32

Not OTT at all. It honestly looked stunning and much more flattering.

I'm amazed. I could understand it if she had a wobble about the style of dress altogether (with her concern on how her back looked!) and decided she wanted to add a full shrug or something but that is strange.

Anyway, you are a lovely talented woman ILove. Enjoy your time with those lovely kiddies FlowersFlowers

ilove · 27/07/2016 23:02

Bless you all, you're really kind :)

stayathomegardener · 27/07/2016 23:46

Aghhhh B12 you say, might look into that Wink

ilove · 28/07/2016 18:26

Ooh it's fab stuff!!!

plimsolls · 28/07/2016 20:44

B12 injections were my lifeline for several years. The difference they make is amazing.

Grin I used to give them to show horses!
B12 not gin.
Glad I found this before I left classics.

Sorry it didn't quite work out to the fairytale ending but you were marvellous ilove. The dress looked much better and I think it was lovely of you to give up your weekend to do it.
I can understand that she felt embarassed but think it was a bit mean to block you. Glad she has apologised.
I nearly printed it off I wish I had now. Just because I am rubbish at finding threads sometimes after a couple of weeks. Still finding my way around.
Anyway ilove I think you were a wonderful friend to a stranger. Have a lovely time with those children. What was the woolly hugs bit? I've missed that I think is it the group that make squares?
