Can we have a new rule, please, that UserName987654321987654321 has to

namechange before they post a new thread.

Because I'm getting confused. There are so many people with UserName in their UserName that I'm in danger of being extremely rude to one of them mixing them up and thinking a new one is an old one or a previously banned one.

I am old and confused.

I think they have to take the name allocated to them when they register, for some reason, but could they not be auto-sked to namechange before posting? Pretty please.

user1464519881 who is infesting at least a couple of threads has just posted this:

Just had another go at changing user name by the way and the existing dull name user is still just showing in a grey type unable to be changed which is strange but not a huge problem. I am sure we can cope with the dull name.

Frankly, I'm sceptical, but would you care to help her, MN?

IamtheZombie · 17/06/2016 18:41

Maryz, Zombie was thinking more along the lines of Zombie (for example) using her existing account to store a user########## nick name and only changing to it when she wants to be an even bigger twat.

I don't like it anyway.

I may be being paranoid, but the user14673839274 always seems to be posting gf comments.

It will get to he point where the mistrust of user####### usernames is so great, every time a newbie tries to post under that named they will get loads of shit, so it isn't fair on them either.

IamtheZombie · 17/06/2016 19:08

Gosh, Maryz, that could take some time. Should Zombie send gin or wine to help you?

Seriously, HQ, would you please address our questions?

HerRoyalFattyness · 17/06/2016 19:20

This confuses me. The numbers all blur and I cannot be arsed reading them.
And just to go back to the beginning here, I am royalty Wink

maryz you may stand. Just remember I like to be addressed as "her maj" Grin (not really. Fatty will do)

DetestableHerytike · 18/06/2016 08:58

Another voice for change if system.

If the Two word thing didn't work, what about a random word then numbers. So apple1234 then banana1234 then carrot1234 and so on. Then round again with a different word. At least there would be something to type!

RebeccaMumsnet · 18/06/2016 17:36

Hi all,

We do require email verification. We removed the 'set up a user name' to speed up the process. We have asked folks to pick a new user and we have edited the confirmation mail to include this.

We are looking into alternatives and we'll know more next week.

Sorry this is taking a while but we are discussing it and haven't forgotten.

fastdaytears · 18/06/2016 20:14

Was the PBP who we were all happy to see the back of (user...ending 881 I think and off to her island) able to re-register due to the user... thing or was that just an unhappy co-incidence?

I'm fucking angry at that thread. I don't have a child with SN (although I suspect myself and DS1 have aspergers, but they are just suspicions) I was reading as a lot of those things have been said about children I know.

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/06/2016 12:30

Why has the thread been deleted? It wasn't the OP being a goody fuckers!

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/06/2016 12:31

Ffs goady

ElsaAintAsColdAsMe · 19/06/2016 12:32

That deletion message needs to be changed. Op was fine, some troll was being a cunt to me, it wasn't the ops fault at all.

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/06/2016 12:34

elsa Flowers I'm sorry you had to read that. There are some complete fuckwits in this world.

Emochild · 19/06/2016 12:35

Even the deletion message on that thread says op started it not with the best of intentions

There was sod all wrong with the thread
It's important that parents if children with SEN can share this stuff without having the response we were subject to

Sort it out MNHQ

ElsaAintAsColdAsMe · 19/06/2016 12:37

Thanks her there isn't much that shocks me anymore but that certainly caught me off guard.

AugustaFinkNottle · 19/06/2016 12:37

Which thread was that?

AugustaFinkNottle · 19/06/2016 12:41

OK, I've now found out which thread that was. Wasn't it you who started it, Maryz? The deletion message was really offensive, as there was nothing wrong with OP's intentions. I don't see why it had to go. MN only needed to delete the idiot troll's messages.

RaeSkywalker · 19/06/2016 12:44

I cannot believe that the thread Maryz started got deleted. Is it now the case that any thread with a userxxxx troll on will be treated as if the OP is not 'genuine' also? It had the potential to be a hugely valuable thread, I am very upset that it has been removed for no reason whatsoever.
