Links....... how do you do them??????

Have searched but can't find a thread about this, if there is one then I apologise for the duplication.

I am soooooo jealous of you lovely MNers that can post links. I haven't got a Scooby how to do it.

Please can someone post and show me how???

as the link rather than

http://www.mumsnet.com

the daft messageboard assumes you're trying to link to local content on the mumsnet site and not another website.. ..which is why some of the link attempts below didn't work.

The easiest way is to open a 2nd window with your target site.

type the stuff that appears in bold:

\link{ address \YOURTEXT}

copy the address in the 2nd window and paste it in place of 'address'

If the address ends in '/' remove it before adding your own '' and your text. No spaces.

Preview and test your link before pressing post message

It looks like some of you who were struggling have now got the hang of it, but this is how we usually do it at MNHQ:

Links are converted automatically. You can also use the following, but without the spaces on the inside next to the square brackets - we've had to include them to demonstrate without y'know, it actually becoming a link

[[www.mumsnet.com ]] gives www.mumsnet.com

[[www.mumsnet.com Mumsnet ]] gives Mumsnet

We hope this makes sense, but if not, let us know.

Anya, you do realise the majority of this thread is 11 years old when the formatting was different?! Hopefully it's become easier for ruby now!
