"Message invalid"

For the last couple of days I've been getting an occasional 'Message invalid' when I try to post. I thought it might be something to do with certain symbols/characters if I was quoting text from another source but even when I exclude them I'm still getting the message. Confused

Ohh, Maryz's right - it is the creepy wee brackets - just happened to me with a very boring post about seeds. Put the gaps in and it wasn't a problem any more. Thank you, Maryz!

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2016 18:33

It's doing it for me at the moment. Don't know if I used the brackets though.

Google Chrome on laptop.

And yes I did try to use creepy wee brackets. Well done Sherlock!

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2016 20:19

I think it is the brackets. Are they not allowed any more?

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 08/03/2016 20:25

what are you doing with the creepy wee brackets now??

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2016 20:28

If you use them < like this > with a space between the bracket and the word it's fine. If you don't put the space in when you press Post it says 'Message Invalid'.

TiggyD · 08/03/2016 20:32

The creepy wee brackets just went wrong for me too. I thought MNHQ had banned me or something.

{Sighs loudly}

The curly ones just aren't the same. Sad

I thought that the first time my post didn't post TD, I was trying to think what MN crime I had committed.

Goingtobeawesome · 08/03/2016 20:42

< test> as I'm sure I used the today.

ThomasRichard · 08/03/2016 20:43

Here's a screenshot, with brackets in to show what was causing it. As soon as I added spaces it was ok.

It is the brackets.

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2016 20:43

Are you sure it wasn't invalid grammar? Did you all check your use of your vs you're? Apostrophes?
;)

I would love it if it posted 'Message Invalid' because of incorrect grammar. Grin

Yes there would be a select few of us all posting about supermarket signage
< deluding myself I would be one of them >

All we are doing is trying to do (snidey asides) but in < pointy brackets > without the spaces.

It worked until very recently. Presumably Tech changed something [stern face].

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2016 21:40

No snidey asides here. I was trying to type < burp > with reference to being in the pub all afternoon. Blush

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2016 21:45

Mum sent see what insightful, thought provoking, intelligent posts you are suppressing?
If I'd seen that in context it might have helped me decide which way to vote on the eu referendum. I guess I'll never know now.
shame on you.

Just me snidey then?

"Witty and playful", is that more accurate?
