Julia Long for a webchat?

Hi MNHQ,

Just watched Julia Long on C4 about transgender issues and how they impact on women. There has been a lot of discussion of these issues on MN recently, and Ms Long seems to have a different view to mainstream/government etc. I thought she could be an interesting MN guest?

Hi all

Sorry you've had to wait on this. We've had a chat here and the feeling is that, if we were to ask Julia to do a webchat or a guest post or similar, we'd probably have to represent a spread of perspectives on the issue at the same time. We don't think now is quite the right time to do that - things have been a bit fraught on the boards - but we'll certainly revisit it in the New Year and we'll keep you apprised of developments.

I think it would be a missed opportunity to have an academic's viewpoint and now would be a great time, especially because of recent discussions on the boards. I hope you'll reconsider. We can't just ignore issues and hope they go away.

I'll bump this because this issue is not going to go away. By all means represent different perspectives too - hopefully you'll be more successful than the women trying to open a real life discussion.
