I swear it was originally promised to be "only for important threads" and rarely used. Now it seems to be used for any old thing and as such, I'm far more likely to ignore it because most of the things it advertises aren't relevant to me.

Yep, I hate it too, especially on my phone.

Will the world end if we don't vote for favourite children's books? Because I have clicked the cross several times and I have also clicked through and voted. How do you stop it coming up?

It's particularly annoying on the ipad - when I scroll up, it scrolls up too - so it's in the middle of the page - and there is no x to hit to git rid of the wretched thing. It appears to advertise drivel. Surely at worst, it should only appear once? But it just doesn't go away! I loathe, loathe, loathe it.

It annoys me on the phone or ipad and it's never once offered me anything remotely important.
