Just happened to me and it told me I had (4) virus. Looked like a fake Google page.

Andro · 02/12/2015 01:07

Happened to me as well, a few minutes ago.

iloverhubarbcrumble · 02/12/2015 08:51

Yesterday eve, first time this has happened to me, and still happening now, 8.50am Wed. 'Smash tube' is the site I'm getting, unpleasant to be confronted with these photos as I settle down for a good read/chat on tube. Only realised it was via Mumsnet after I saw this thread - had started to google 'do I need antivirus for my android'.

Moto G, android, via chrome, not just happening via clicking into a thread, seems to be as soon as I go into MN, bit random. Urgent action please MN!

MaidOfStars · 02/12/2015 09:27

Three times in succession, just now.

Spicyglam.com

MaidOfStars · 02/12/2015 09:34

The most likely reason here is malware on the mobile server. I'd be treating this as a potential hacking incident. I'm trying to recollect when it started, certainly a couple of months ago -ish.

gleam · 02/12/2015 10:02

Just happened to me. I'd clicked on a thread from Active Convos and it took me to a Facebook 'You have won a prize' page.
I don't even have Facebook.

ColetteTech · 02/12/2015 10:22

Hi all, we just wanted to explain where this is coming from, Mumsnet runs ads from 3rd parties (most publisher/content websites do this) and despite having very tight blocks in place, these redirect ads sometimes slip through the net.

We turned off our main supplier last night which we hoped would have done the trick but looks like it's still happening, apologies for that. We'll keep systematically turning these off to find the culprit.

Could you let us know if this is still happening? If so, could you let us know if you're using Android/iPhone/other when you post, it will really help us to narrow down the problem.

gleam · 02/12/2015 10:32

Android, S4 native browser.

This is a screenshot of the thread I was trying to open and what I got instead, according to Avast.

Suddenly redirected to porn sites...again
WotNoLoobrush · 02/12/2015 11:23

I posted yesterday evening. Nothing else weird has happened so far. I'm on Android, chrome browser. The redirection actually made my phone vibrate (it's switched off).

Can this shit really not be prevented from 'slipping through the net'? Does this happen on other sites or is MN a target?

MaidOfStars · 02/12/2015 11:31

It happens on other sites - I use another forum that periodically redirects to betting sites. Same problem - mobile server being hacked.

I am on iPhone/iPad using Safari. But this is not a phone/browser specific issue, IMO. It's the open ad space.

AnyFucker · 02/12/2015 11:31

I got several redirections last night.y phone was flashing and saying I was under attack by a virus. There was a fake looking page to "fix" it so I just switched off my phone.

Seems to have gone today (android)

MaidOfStars · 02/12/2015 11:37

It's not a virus. iOS is practically foolproof on the virus front.

It is a malware redirection. iOS users might struggle to d/l any associated apps, given the level of scrutiny any program is subject to in the Apple Store. Android is way more vulnerable in this sense, as apps are only virus checked, not QCed.

Just shut the window/s down and don't click on anything. Do not navigate from the redirect site.

AnyFucker · 02/12/2015 11:47

When the redirect site was on I couldn't navigate anywhere, tbh

Back clicking was useless as was opening another window so I just shut down in a bit of a panic (am wussy where tech is concerned)

luciole15 · 02/12/2015 11:52

Mine's android. Had the redirect once Las night.

Toooldtobearsed · 02/12/2015 12:06

Seems okay for me now, but yesterday, not only did I have a porn site pop up magically, I also got a 'you are viewing an illegal site, pay us $100 now!(kind of message).
Took me ages to get rid of it because I was reluctant to tick the box that SAID 'Tick this box to prevent seeing this message again'.

I was convinced that was just a low down dirty trick. Half an hour later, I discovered it was not Grin

WotNoLoobrush · 02/12/2015 12:36

Interesting Maid - thanks.

MaidOfStars · 02/12/2015 12:50

AF - back clicking doesn't work for me either. However, holding the back button to pop up my recent history and navigating from there works fine.

swashbucklecheer · 02/12/2015 13:06

Just happened to me again there now. I'm on an android phone

ColetteTech · 02/12/2015 13:49

Ok, so apart from swashbucklecheer's report just now, this seems to have quietened down since this morning, is that right?

Mumsnet is not being targeted specifically, this will also be happening on other forums/news sites etc too, we all use similar technology.

If this happens again, we would recommend coming out of the browser app (by tapping a home button) and then "force" closing the browser app, iOS and android instructions here. This will close any other browser windows you have open but will allow you to re-open the browser app again and continue browsing normally.

MaidOfStars · 02/12/2015 14:07

People still reporting the issue on Chat.

BumWad · 02/12/2015 14:12

Just happened to me!

MissMooMoo · 02/12/2015 14:23

Happened to me multiple times today

WotNoLoobrush · 02/12/2015 16:01

Sorry MN. I've just been redirected to facebook as apparently I'm a lucky winnerHmm. I couldn't screenshot in time unfortunately.

sugar21 · 02/12/2015 16:03

I'm a lucky facebook winner, strange as I don't have facebook.
What's going on?

LittleMiss77 · 02/12/2015 16:16

I've just had a porn site flash up on Android
