Yes, this is a TAAT, so do your worst.

'We don't usually delete whole threads but we do so when it is to protect a poster's privacy.'

Aah, poor wee poster got flamed bang to rights on an AIBU so you delete the whole thread? BASED ON WHAT? Shock

Seriously MNHQ? SERIOUSLY? Hmm Which one of you is she related to? I can't physically roll my eyes back in my head far enough to express my cynicism and weariness over this.

What is going on around here these days? Who/what are you scared of, exactly?

OP posts:
Koalafications · 04/04/2015 08:53

The OP barely even replied to the thread, so it's not like she/he gave much away.

There was one post that someone made linking her a social media account to her MN name (she was foolish to use the same for both if she was worried about being identified, IMO.) but that post could have just been deleted.

Perfectlypurple · 04/04/2015 08:53

I was going to post a thread about this.

Clearly it was not deleted to protect a posters privacy, there was nothing to out the op. The op didn't get the answers she wanted. I have noticed it happen a fair bit with the privacy thing being a reason when it's not.

People should perhaps think about how they will feel if they don't get the replies they want before starting a thread. If they can't cope with people disagreeing then don't post it.

Sparklingbrook · 04/04/2015 08:56

'Deleted due to thread not going OP's way' ?

Koalafications · 04/04/2015 08:58

Exactly Sparkling Easter Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 04/04/2015 08:59

Well I am hoping that the unanimous 'Don't bloody ring me' will have got the message through before the deletion. Grin

Koalafications · 04/04/2015 09:01

Easter Grin hopefully.

Perfectlypurple · 04/04/2015 09:01

I don't think the message got through.

Koalafications · 04/04/2015 09:03
Easter Sad
SoMauve · 04/04/2015 09:07

Linking to another account was a bit low and probably gave her the ammo to demand MNHQ delete the thread. I don't know why some posters persist in acting like the lovechild of Miss Marple and Quincy Easter Hmm

ChristianGreyIsAJackass · 04/04/2015 09:08

Yes I was surprised to see this this morning.
I thought something huge must have happened after i went to bed, which was at 12.30am so i would have been surprised if so!

Seems a bit suspect, like you say, the same posting name for twitter hardly warrants a whole thread deletion. Maybe it was the subject matter and the absolute resounding 'no YABU' message! Grin

Koalafications · 04/04/2015 09:14

Yes, the poster shouldn't have linked the two. I didn't actually see anyone acknowledge his post so it could have just been deleted.

SoMauve · 04/04/2015 09:28

She was silly to use the same name that linked to her real name but it doesn't excuse someone doing an amateur detective job and outing her. If that hadn't happened I don't think MNHQ would have deleted the thread.

ragged · 04/04/2015 09:43

I thought there were a lot of nasty attacks on there, should have been deleted for that.

Koalafications · 04/04/2015 09:47

No, absolutely not SoMauve the poster shouldn't have done that. It wasn't fair.

Ifyourawizardwhydouwearglasses · 04/04/2015 09:56

Should have stayed as a reference for other cold callers googling 'why are people so rude to me when I am soooooo polite??'

Grin

There wasn't a link. He just mentioned that she was posting similar stuff under the same name on another social media account.

When Gordon Brown was told about the supposed 'Mumsnet political party' this week by a journalist he apparently replied 'Do whatever they say' Grin

Maybe MNHQ are feeling well disposed towards the Labour Party after that? Wink

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 04/04/2015 10:22

I posted earlier on that thread, didn't see the twitter post, was it the OP or someone else who posted the link? If it was someone else that's a pretty low thing to do. I suppose the OP wanted the whole thing deleted because even if the twitter post went everyone who had read the thread coukd have found it by searching the OPs name, whereas this way, only those who noticed it can. I felt she was given a hard time to be honest, yes, cold calls are very annoying but I am impressed at her dedication.

ShallICropMyHair · 04/04/2015 10:23

x posted re twitter.

Koalafications · 04/04/2015 10:25

thanks Koala. So why didn't they just remove that post?

Exactly my point. The comment wasn't even acknowledged by any other posters. If the thread deletion was about that comment it seems like quite a heavy handed a approach.
