We'd like a Survival/Prepper topic please, if that's possible. Somewhere where we can discuss prepping, techniques, exchange ideas, etc. Not just for the Zombie Apocalypse, a serious topic where we can collate our plans and ideas.

Getting back to the topic, I was sent a link to a video from the local civil defence which shows a map of tsunami danger zones.

Those most in danger are in red, then a bit further out yellow and further pale yellow.

My house is in the red zone. We've been told that should the tsunami sirens go off, we'll have only 15 minutes to evacuate. (Tsunami sirens? Why did no-one tell me we had them?)

I really need a grab and go kit for us all sorted.

No, I'm in NZ.

We chose this house because it's only a short walk to the beach. It's gorgeous but I guess it has it's downfalls too.

Just don't watch a movie called 'Deep Impact' is my recommendation.

I can't help feeling that any new board would have many many threads on it which would become 'reference threads' and need to last a lot longer than 30 days. BOB contents are just one of the possibilities.

Well let's face it, when (not if) the zombies/aliens/sewer rats come for us, the first thing any of them is going to do is knock out the internet. So the topic would be no good to you, or us, or anyone for that matter!

Could you start a running thread in Housekeeping Which F&B paint would suit my new baracdes? or Food and recipes Would the Zombies prefer soup or prawn cocktail before digging into my brain? or Ethical dilemmas It's been 6 weeks with no food, can i eat the hamster?

I think that that's a No - or at least until we've proved ourselves, perhaps.

Maybe Housekeeping would be a good idea now that we've got a tacit Go Ahead to use that? (Not Food and recipes in the first instance, I think. That would likely just lead to paella-talk. Grin)

Housekeeping seems slightly relevant enough to do for now; provided we can find it :(

At least we can keep the threads all together on there, and they won't get deleted.
