What about the 'other one'? Wasn't there 2 founders? What happened to the other one whose name I can't remember?

You're thinking of ThingieMumsnet, Justine buried her under the patio when Mumsnet was valued at £1,0000,000,000,0000

SoupDragon · 13/03/2015 17:04

There were three at the start. Justine, Carrie and Rachel. I think two were right at the start and one shortly after.

nochocolateforlentteacake · 13/03/2015 17:11

Yes, Thigie, that's her. It wasn't all that long ago she had a name and now she's been airbrushed. I never knew there were three - or was there ten and its like 'ten little Indians'?

And what about Steven Cassidy?

"Mumsnet was the brainchild of Justine Roberts who came up with the idea of a website to help parents pool information and advice following a disastrous first family holiday with her one-year-old twins. Once back in the UK, Roberts persuaded friends Carrie Longton and Steven Cassidy to help her build the site that is now regarded as one of the most influential women's sites in the UK."

Steven is our Main Tech!

MyRolyPolyBaby · 13/03/2015 17:13

I thought it was 3 and that's why there's 3 silhouettes on the logo?

SoupDragon · 13/03/2015 17:13

Ah... The one, the only, the original and best Tech :)

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/03/2015 17:14

No, surely the logo is a take off of Charlie's Angels?

SoupDragon · 13/03/2015 17:15

Yes, and there were 3 original MNHQ founders. Just like Charlie's Angels

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/03/2015 17:20

Yes to the original 3 founders. I have never associated that with the logo though. Just thought it was a play on CA. Well, tbh, I've not really thought about it at all.

JustineMumsnet · 13/03/2015 17:21

Hello. Hello. My ears are burning. So in a nutshell here's how it all went. I went on terrible holiday with me baby twins in Nov 99. Whilst there I decided to start a website where mums could share advice on stuff (including holidays). Came back - mentioned it to Carrie - pal from antenatal class - and Steve (the origninal Tech) who was a mate from Uni who, handily, could write code. Roped 'em in. About a year and half later asked Rachel (another friend from antenatal class) to help out, as Carrie was pregnant and going off on maternity leave.

Rachel's still here doing books webchats and stuff. Carrie does a lot of ambassadorial whatnot - speaking events and meeting great and good type stuff. Steven was still coding up until about a year ago but now is teaching programming in NYC. He came over this week for our pardee though. ThingieMumsnet must be the one who's swimming with the fishes. TSSDNCOP.

YvesJutteau · 13/03/2015 17:22

CarrieMumsnet is still here, just keeping a lower profile.

Which silhouette is Steven?

Kewcumber · 13/03/2015 17:23

See, see... Thingie has been airbrushed out of the official records

nochocolateforlentteacake · 13/03/2015 17:36

Quick lads, we've been spotted by High Command... Scarper!

But they used to say 'co-founders Justine and Thingy Doodah'. I suspect foul play. Did Thingy Doodah get an OBE?

Has Justine just admitted to bumping Thingy off? Shock

Groovee · 13/03/2015 17:40

Was thingie a troll then? Wink

AKnickerfulOfMenace · 13/03/2015 17:42

Free The Mumsnet Thingie!

JustineMumsnet · 13/03/2015 17:45

@Dumbledoresgirl

Has Justine just admitted to bumping Thingy off? Shock

Not Thingy

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/03/2015 17:47

Well Thingie then!

Don't avoid the question!

nochocolateforlentteacake · 13/03/2015 17:52

Who did she bump off then?

This thread is proving jucier than a first thought...

I am distraught .... distraught, I tell you ..... that Steven (Main Tech) has left Sad but I assume he walked away with a nice, fat cheque though? Grin

But I'm sure you have some lovely Techs here in London

Ach techs don't need money - they wouldn't know what to do with it. Look at that Bill Gates - has to give it all away. Grin

Now, move along please, if you will no thingies nothing to see here.

Fairenuff · 13/03/2015 20:06

The woman on the right in the logo looks like she is on her phone to me.

It wasn't until the blown up pick for the 15th birthday that I realised it was a bottle. I thought (fron a distance) she was checking her mn posts Grin

LIZS · 13/03/2015 20:13

Lol at checking posts on phone ! Back in the dark ages early MN days mobile phones were analogue bricks for making emergency calls and we used mega computers on dial up for which you paid per minute to access the www. No smartphones or tablets!

Fairenuff · 13/03/2015 20:20

Yy ikr

Wink

But, but in the Standard article last night Boris Johnson claimed MN started because he scared away your au pair! LIES!
