is it ok to ask "are you a troll"?

just that. when we suspect that something is fishy I don't want to have to report a thread.
that's not troll hunting IMO, it's troll interviewing.
that should be allowed.

Every now and then I want to ask the OP if they are a troll.
we could do this 1 time per thread. if OP says no then we believe them,
if no answer it's a troll.
easy peasy

how about that?

I'm fed up with fucking trolls Angry and I just want to ask this question on the thread.

But they could be given incentives to break out of the Troll Topic and turn their MN lives around and be a proper poster.

ReluctantCamper · 12/01/2015 09:57

I think half the time they don't realise they're trolls, they don't start out meaning to be, but enjoy the attention, and just keep embroidering their story. The question isn't 'are you a troll?', but 'is everything you have posted completely true?'.

ZingTheGreat · 12/01/2015 09:58

hmm, a white cat? i need to give that some consideration. I can't act all villain-like.
something soothing might be better.

I did suspect that thread wasn't genuine. But no point in accusing of troll hunting as it could have been genuine. And the person is hardly going to say oh yes sorry I'm a troll. I think it's better not to reply at all.

ZingTheGreat · 12/01/2015 10:01

yes. set up a troll sanctuary where they can recover and recognise the errors of their ways.

we need to be gentle, if they just want attention.

if they are hard ass trolls I suggest a Troll Jail

I think a Jeremy Kyle Troll Special would be good. Lie detectors and everything.

PacificDogwood · 12/01/2015 10:02

A topic could be called The Bridge of Souls, and you could join me to do the cyber nasty there?

Sparklingbrook · 12/01/2015 10:10

Ooh thanks Zing

I think Dom Littlewood should be involved somewhere along the line to chase the trolls down the street and yell at them about WHY? Grin

BuzzardBird · 12/01/2015 10:11

Might struggle sometimes to stop laughing though. I can imagine the whole Bond villain interrogation scenario going horribly wrong if I had the cat.

You did what when your baby was 6 weeks old? I would start to say in a stern voice, only to dissolve in giggles.

But it's troo.... Protesteth the OP too much

GlacindaTheTroll · 12/01/2015 10:20

I'd prefer Fruit Loops...

... or brisket?
