is it ok to ask "are you a troll"?

just that. when we suspect that something is fishy I don't want to have to report a thread.
that's not troll hunting IMO, it's troll interviewing.
that should be allowed.

Every now and then I want to ask the OP if they are a troll.
we could do this 1 time per thread. if OP says no then we believe them,
if no answer it's a troll.
easy peasy

how about that?

I'm fed up with fucking trolls Angry and I just want to ask this question on the thread.

I think A Light of Interrogation is needed to shine into the eyes of anyone suspected of trollery.

I would also like all new mnetters to be faced with a selection of threads and need to identify which are potential trolls.

"Droll" Grin

I loved some of the drills of years gone by…

Please let the theme song be better than the Lego Movie one

PacificDogwood · 12/01/2015 10:46

drolls - why oh why does autocorrect to accept that mean what I type?? well, most of the time

wheresthebeach · 12/01/2015 10:49

Yes to eye patch. Can glare really well with one eye!

Off to find out where I can get a baton to hang on my waist...

wheresthebeach · 12/01/2015 10:50

Theme from 'Jaws'? Just a thought...

Sparklingbrook · 12/01/2015 10:50

How about some torture? Thumbscrews? Being made to watch Take me Out on repeat?

ZingTheGreat · 12/01/2015 10:50

Caulked

that's a brilliant idea! like an ID parade of threads.

The only post I have ever had deleted was one were I said, very gently, "oh come on love, that's not quite true is it?" I was very new to MN and was completely shocked when I got the deleted for breaking talk guidelines message.

She did turn out to be a troll in the end.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 12/01/2015 10:54

Maybe, the trolls of earlier days could live in the cave with each other's, and writing down posts and threads and having each other comment on it? Maybe that would fulfil the need?

ArsenicFaceCream · 12/01/2015 10:55

A Troll drill is quite a god idea in itself Pacific

With a bell and an assembly point and appointed roles....

PacificDogwood · 12/01/2015 10:56

There could be troll support groups?
You know, the TA, with 12 steps and everything.

ZingTheGreat · 12/01/2015 10:56

make them proof-read ALL the threads.

when they find a spellin error they must slap another troll.

OP posts:
PacificDogwood · 12/01/2015 10:56

Ooh, troll drill: may if with drilled/exercises them enough they would lose the need to troll the innocent!
Healthy body, healthy mind kind of thing….

ArsenicFaceCream · 12/01/2015 10:56

And that way more people would get to glimpse more trolls being confirmed as trolls and that would nourish their trolldar, which feeds into Caulk's excellent idea.....

Yeah, that'll work. And not piss off anyone feeling genuinely fragile at all Hmm

CaulkheadUpNorth · 12/01/2015 10:58

I feel like we have solved all the problems of the world - surely this programme is transferrable?

ZingTheGreat · 12/01/2015 10:58

i think we are close to figuring this out.

YoullLikeItNotaLot · 12/01/2015 10:59

I went further on the "baby not moving" thread than I usually do when I'm suspicious but didn't directly accuse them of being a troll. I thought in that case it was a no-lose situation:

  • If it WAS a troll, they got their attention and who cares if they felt insulted by questions regarding their truthfulness?
  • If it wasn't a troll, well the babywas fine (apparently) and the "mother" was robust enough to argue back against "everybody spreading rumours" - seriously, having been there, you truly would not care what a bunch if strangers on mumsnet thought. The relief is all consuming.
ArsenicFaceCream · 12/01/2015 10:59

Someone else forgot to put 'light hearted' in the thread title

PacificDogwood · 12/01/2015 11:00

ouryve, the thread has moved on to solving All The Problems Of The World - keep up Grin

ChippingInLatteLover · 12/01/2015 11:00

Zing

I think you are comparing trolls to your first 5 children. They are, in fact, like your 6th. There is your mistake.
