Hello everyone,

We're very sorry, but Mumsnet is going to be offline THIS COMING SATURDAY, October 11, from 6am(ish) to 2pm(ish) while Tech undertakes some essential maintenance. We're leaving our creaky old data home for a whizzy new high-tech place, and we need to move the furniture. (MNHQ itself isn't moving - we couldn't cope with that )

But! We've no intention of leaving you high and dry. If it's too early on a Saturday to think about facing real life, fear not. We've plumbed the archive and pulled together a selection of 25 of the finest threads in Mumsnet's history, and we'll be putting those on a holding page while we're offline. The long winter evenings morning will just fly by!

Very sorry for the inconvenience but we're afraid this one's unavoidable.

End of my first week working full time in 5 years, I was looking forward to a relaxed saturday doing nothing but sitting relaxing and you take MN away for that day? Where is the tears emoticon?

Oh my God. That's like, almost a whole day.

And all across the land the houses glistened with the cleaning efforts of the Mnetters.

I may have to resort to RL conversations and do stuff.

On the plus side, this will significantly reduce the number of "It's Christmas Eve and I haven't started Christmas shopping yet" threads (MNers seem to either Christmas shop in July or on the 24/12, I've observed). We can use our time wisely to online shop. Or carve pumpkins.

Dh says he feels sorry for all the husbands affected. He's not joking either.

I am wondering if this is some sort of ploy for MNHQ to spend the day off and go christmas shopping, then they can sit smugly in their towers while we run around like blue arsed flies trying to get it all done the week before christmas.

Away day tomorrow then Saturday morning off to have a lie in. That's what's really happening :)

I was going to suggest that we meet up for lunch Quint. But I have to do something on Saturday lunchtime.

Never mind, I'll probably come back a bit piddled and heaven knows what I'll be doing/saying later on on Saturday!

At least it isn't an overnight thing. I couldn't get through a night of dd waking every 2hrs (if I'm lucky) without MN to cling to support me.

Which means it absolutely must be back up again by Saturday eve! It will be won't it? Promise? [wobbly lip emoticon]
