DO NOT BE ALARMED. Mumsnet is going to be offline for a few hours SATURDAY OCTOBER 11

Hello everyone,

We're very sorry, but Mumsnet is going to be offline THIS COMING SATURDAY, October 11, from 6am(ish) to 2pm(ish) while Tech undertakes some essential maintenance. We're leaving our creaky old data home for a whizzy new high-tech place, and we need to move the furniture. (MNHQ itself isn't moving - we couldn't cope with that )

But! We've no intention of leaving you high and dry. If it's too early on a Saturday to think about facing real life, fear not. We've plumbed the archive and pulled together a selection of 25 of the finest threads in Mumsnet's history, and we'll be putting those on a holding page while we're offline. The long winter evenings morning will just fly by!

Very sorry for the inconvenience but we're afraid this one's unavoidable.

Strength and honour
MNHQ

(This is getting a bit more Bounty than NMs...)

Andrewofgg · 09/10/2014 17:16

You do realise that there will be rats in the streets and an outbreak of bubonic plague, I hope!

NotQuiteWithItAtAll · 09/10/2014 17:22
Shock

It better be six hours of reading material, these mumsnet finest threads.

londonrach · 09/10/2014 17:23

Please mnhq put the little old lady lady post who picked the summer house part of your 25. Also gransnet can we confirm we going over there....(stocks up with wine as at pils that day..)

Sirzy · 09/10/2014 17:31

End of my first week working full time in 5 years, I was looking forward to a relaxed saturday doing nothing but sitting relaxing and you take MN away for that day? Where is the tears emoticon?

londonrach · 09/10/2014 17:32

Hands sirzy a tissue...

SixImpossible · 09/10/2014 17:34

I can't remember my Gransnet nickname or password. Do I have to reinvent myself?

DontDrinkAndFacebook · 09/10/2014 17:57

Oh my God. That's like, almost a whole day. Shock

FlossyMoo · 09/10/2014 17:57

And all across the land the houses glistened with the cleaning efforts of the Mnetters.

I may have to resort to RL conversations and do stuff. Sad

Hassled · 09/10/2014 18:04

On the plus side, this will significantly reduce the number of "It's Christmas Eve and I haven't started Christmas shopping yet" threads (MNers seem to either Christmas shop in July or on the 24/12, I've observed). We can use our time wisely to online shop. Or carve pumpkins.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/10/2014 18:07

Dh says he feels sorry for all the husbands affected. He's not joking either.

fairgame · 09/10/2014 18:09

I am wondering if this is some sort of ploy for MNHQ to spend the day off and go christmas shopping, then they can sit smugly in their towers while we run around like blue arsed flies trying to get it all done the week before christmas.

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 09/10/2014 18:11

Away day tomorrow then Saturday morning off to have a lie in. That's what's really happening :)

FruVikingessOla · 09/10/2014 18:14

I was going to suggest that we meet up for lunch Quint. But I have to do something on Saturday lunchtime.

Never mind, I'll probably come back a bit piddled and heaven knows what I'll be doing/saying later on on Saturday!

Ginfox · 09/10/2014 18:15

At least it isn't an overnight thing. I couldn't get through a night of dd waking every 2hrs (if I'm lucky) without MN to cling to support me.

Which means it absolutely must be back up again by Saturday eve! It will be won't it? Promise? [wobbly lip emoticon]

MrsVamos · 09/10/2014 18:16

LilAnnie

YY. I reckon its the annual HQ trip to acquire gin. Wink

If not.

PLEASE can lovely RowanHQ or the Grand Dame herself, Justine reassure me this will not be a tech update like the new mobile site one ?

I'm still recovering.

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 09/10/2014 18:17

Mrs

Or annual bottling at their own distillery :)

mum786 · 09/10/2014 18:20

How am I going to cope?!!!

MrsVamos · 09/10/2014 18:25

LilAnnie

I don't think they bother having it bottled do they ?

Much easier to administer via drip if not bottled. Grin

FourWallsClosing · 09/10/2014 18:26

[finally drags herself away from watching Mr Saxobeat on repeat.... only half joking - that is one gorgeous video though, thanks QS]

Don't know how to put vids up myself Sad so will have to do a linky -

FourWallsClosing · 09/10/2014 18:27

Ahhh, it gets put up with the link Grin

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 09/10/2014 18:42

Mrs

With all the shepherds purse libel threats, HQ have probably started injecting it through their eyeballs by now from stress :)

MrsVamos · 09/10/2014 18:47

Nah, LilAnnie

They is tuff stuff, is HQ.

No need for gin. Bit of bug spray should do the trick. Or a swat.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 09/10/2014 18:49

There is nothing else I can say.

TSSDNCOP · 09/10/2014 18:52

Have you noticed that people always say "Don't be alarmed" at precisely the moment they are expecting to alarm the tits off you?
