DO NOT BE ALARMED. Mumsnet is going to be offline for a few hours SATURDAY OCTOBER 11

Hello everyone,

We're very sorry, but Mumsnet is going to be offline THIS COMING SATURDAY, October 11, from 6am(ish) to 2pm(ish) while Tech undertakes some essential maintenance. We're leaving our creaky old data home for a whizzy new high-tech place, and we need to move the furniture. (MNHQ itself isn't moving - we couldn't cope with that )

But! We've no intention of leaving you high and dry. If it's too early on a Saturday to think about facing real life, fear not. We've plumbed the archive and pulled together a selection of 25 of the finest threads in Mumsnet's history, and we'll be putting those on a holding page while we're offline. The long winter evenings morning will just fly by!

Very sorry for the inconvenience but we're afraid this one's unavoidable.

Strength and honour
MNHQ

I'm at a wedding! A WEDDING!!! With a bat shit crazy "mother of the flower girl" and I was going to do a live fred about her mentalness and everyfink!!!

Just save it all up to stress-test the new servers when it's all back up.

elQuintoConyo · 09/10/2014 23:56

My mother flies in tomorrow.

All I can say is "thanks MN", high 5s all around.

LuckyLuckyMe · 10/10/2014 00:13

I was going to say it's my birthday and stamp my feet but I see I'm 14 hours too late and I've been beaten to it.
But it's my birthday.

Tapirbackrider · 10/10/2014 00:39

Saturday is the first day of my holidays - dh is golfing, the dcs are both out, and I had a lush day of mn'ing & Wine planned.

WTAF am I supposed to do now? Sad

FiftyShadesOfGreen4205 · 10/10/2014 00:40

Fuck me, guess I'll have to look after the kid.

FloatingPorpoise · 10/10/2014 02:17

I'd like to go on the field trip to NM. Has someone ordered a coach or do we just meet there? We need a word we can all use so we can recognise each other.

BertieBotts · 10/10/2014 02:29

I think we should just make MN puns and references, not in a horrible way or anything, just sneak it into a thread and then we'll know.

BertieBotts · 10/10/2014 02:32

Somebody needs to sign up as Paul. Then we can say "Paul? Is that you?"

mathanxiety · 10/10/2014 05:14

So I actually will get some cleaning and clothes sorting done this weekend .

Oh joy.

PunkrockerGirl · 10/10/2014 06:34

This is unacceptable!

AllThatGlistens · 10/10/2014 07:16

I might have to pop over there with you Norks, will put my best behaviour cap on.

QuietNinjaTardis · 10/10/2014 07:19

I've just had my first look at gransnet. It's lovely. I might register there and stay there. Ha that'll show mnhq not to mess I'm only 32 and not a gran but I'm sure that's ok

Jill2015 · 10/10/2014 08:00

ChubbyKitty · 10/10/2014 08:14

Everyone I know is away this weekend.

I'll have to go shopping with my dad. I'll do an experiment. I dunno what yet. Something to do with shoes, no doubt.

OwlWearingSunglasses · 10/10/2014 09:24

Oh crap. I now have no reason not to do the bloody hoovering. Sad

sashh · 10/10/2014 09:30

OK mumsnet where is the notice period?

Couldn't you have given us enough time to organise a meet up or three?

MyFairyKing · 10/10/2014 10:06

I am so distressed. I'm not alarm, just very, very, very sad. Sad

Staywithme · 10/10/2014 10:34

Thank feck. My shoulder may actually start to feel better after a rest. Am I the only poster out there that has developed a sore shoulder from constant mumsnetting? Blush

FishWithABicycle · 10/10/2014 10:41

This is going to be like the New York blackouts of 1977. A wave of crime as frustrated MNers kill their MILs denied the safety valve of coming here to rant, triggering an economic crisis. Society falling into chaos and dystopia as countless domestic and personal situations are tackled without wise advice to LTB or to consider "no" as a complete sentence. In decades to come, young MNers who are currently at school will be wide-eyed at our tales of how we survived, and what we did that day.

CuttedUpPear · 10/10/2014 15:19

Terrifying Shock

Vintagejazz · 10/10/2014 15:44

Ooh I wonder will I be on any of the 'finest threads'.
