Looks like we may be discussed on Jeremy Vine's lunchtime show, BBC 2, see here . You can contact the show using this

welshmum · 08/08/2006 11:46

The host Victoria will have had to be hard on wannabe - there was no opposing caller on. It's her job to try to make the debate balanced. Trust me on this one....

zippitippitoes · 08/08/2006 11:46

I think it has to be a bit tough..devil's advocate and all that..like mn actually

wannaBe1974 · 08/08/2006 11:47

wonder if nobody will sue me now because I said on national radio that she's earned herself a lot of bad publicity.

MrsRichardHammond · 08/08/2006 11:47

fair enough if she wants to appear balanced but she also needs to let people get a word in edgeways!

welshmum · 08/08/2006 11:49

No wannabe, she has and the defence would be 'fair comment'

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 08/08/2006 11:50

Don't forget guys, once something appears in a aperp you can contact 'write to the editor' for the Letter's Page also.

MrsRichardHammond · 08/08/2006 11:52

have already written to the daily mail as got that in front of me

Have emailed Jeremy vine as well with the link to the petition - maybe we will get it up on a few more websites. If we could get it on the bbc we'll be laughing.

anthonykiedisbitontheside · 08/08/2006 11:56

I've emailed Jeremy Vine too but I hope he doesn't phone me up as I have tonsilitis and I don't think i'd sound very good on radio!

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 08/08/2006 11:56

VERY well done Wannabe. You didn't allow yourself to be sidetracked by the non-issue of 'well, you wouldn't like it, would you?' That is SO not the point.
You are not a 'expert in childcare', you have not put your face (urgh) and name into the public eye, you do not purport to know more than anyone else on a subject which is largely instinctive for mothers (ahem) and you do not acknowledge in other publications such as the Guardian that your views are controversial and then seek to ban any controversy.

Does the (urgh) make it deletable... i am of course referring to wannabe's face?

wannaBe1974 · 08/08/2006 11:58

oooh a bit of opposition on five live now - hmmm would we make those comments to nobody's face?

aitch71 · 08/08/2006 11:58

i really would (urgh)

Tinker · 08/08/2006 11:59

Think Clive Anderson covering for JV - should be interesting, him being a lawyer...

MrsRichardHammond · 08/08/2006 12:00

got it on now, i like clive anderson

cupcakes · 08/08/2006 12:01

Tortington · 08/08/2006 12:01

what radio station are you listening to 5 or 2

tiredemma · 08/08/2006 12:01

cupcakes · 08/08/2006 12:01

2

MrsRichardHammond · 08/08/2006 12:02
  1. is it on c4 news?
aitch71 · 08/08/2006 12:02

2

wannaBe1974 · 08/08/2006 12:02

haha, "sent to bed without any supper" I like that.

It would be interesting to see how contravercy like this affect sales?

colditz · 08/08/2006 12:03

Yes. Any comment that has been allowed to stand on Mumsnet, by the rules on their own code of conduct as opposed to the enforced gag, I would repeat to Nobody's face. The ones I wouldn't repeat, I wouldn't have said, and they have been deleted in any case.

that is what has been missed - Mumsnet is being treated as a single entity, whereas it is thousands of seperate people, all posting their own opinion, usually with no more thought than stringing together a sentence. That is why it isn't like a newspaper.
