"Add a Message

It is with great regret that we have to ask members to refrain from any further discussion of Gina Ford, her methods or her books on the site. To find out why click here. We'd be very grateful if members could report any mentions of Gina Ford using the "contact Mumsnet" facility (the little red exclamation mark to the right of each posting). Many thanks. MNHQ. "

Never seen it before.

Because others will find that sad, sad, link at the bottom in the morning, and it will only garner another thread.

JanH · 07/08/2006 00:14

Oh me too, scooobydoo (though referring to it is probably deletable )

Chandra · 07/08/2006 00:14

TBH I doubt very much it would help, tomorrow morning there would be lots of threads about this.

collision · 07/08/2006 00:14

Just reported a couple of things SGeorge and said the same.

This thread has upset a lot of people but unless they shut up then MN will be in trouble.

TambaIsBadBadBad · 07/08/2006 00:14

I dont know if there would be much point in deleting this thread really, cause as people see the notice more threads will spring up. At least this way MN only has to watch over the one thread? (In theory anyhow)

Have read the notice and relevent info and will abidee by the new rule. Sorry its come to this Justine and co

SaintGeorge · 07/08/2006 00:16

True, but at least another thread would be in the morning. Save someone at HQ from staying up all night with figured poised over the delete button.

SaintGeorge · 07/08/2006 00:16

figured ??

Thanks everyone for the messages of support (on and offline). We do appreciate your comments and we promise to reply to all as soon as we can. You should be aware that DSC's stance is that they believe site closure to be a disproportionate response to the complaints against Mumsnet, so no need to innundate them - they are doing their best for us.
Thanks again
MNHQ

Chandra · 07/08/2006 00:19

I'm not going to say anymore Collision, although it hurts that she has robbed us of expressing our own opinion (mine was good BTW), but what is worse is that we are now becoming our own police, that's really shameful. I understand your good intentions, but I think its a lost battle.

[period]

Chandra · 07/08/2006 00:21

Thanks for that Justine, may we send a thank you postcard then?

sorry, that's the last post, honest! [chandra pops off line]

JanH · 07/08/2006 00:23

I know that this series of unfortunate events has been reported to the press but have never seen any coverage - has anyone?

Or have they been warned off?

Tortington · 07/08/2006 00:45

so sorry you have been put through this mumsnetHQ. what would i do with out mumsnet.

colditz · 07/08/2006 00:49

Is it maybe time to start chatting to the papers? I don't know how these things work but I am sure they would be interested.

PinkyRed · 07/08/2006 01:48

I'm more of a lurker than a poster usually, but just wanted to add my . How awful that this has burst into your maternity leave.

And I agree with you that quite apart from MN being fantastic, this raises fundamental issues around free speech and the fact that the law hasn't caught up with the internet revolution. If you decide to take it on, I'm good for a tenner for your legal fund, or I can make some badly painted placards to be attached to buggies for when we take to the streets.

geekgrrl · 07/08/2006 06:55

shall I keep my eyes open for press coverage of all this........

Jimjams2 · 07/08/2006 08:30

There was a small comment in the Times a while ago.

I keep coming back to this thread to add something but I just don't know what to say....

Just adding a face doesn't nearly cover it...

Does she have an address - I'd like to send her a few comments about this?

WorldFamousAuthor · 07/08/2006 08:43

bye bye aragon's post!

Jimjams2 · 07/08/2006 08:43

I had no idea there were a 1000 new threads and 10000 posts every day.

No wonder I can't keep up.

Jimjams2 · 07/08/2006 08:44

aragon- she has a website- it's £40 to join, although you may be able to contact her via it without joining. I would seriously advise you against doing that though. If you do, do it when calm!

bin · 07/08/2006 08:45

disbelieve at this notice. As has been said it's just people chatting like in a pub but only more honest on many occassions thanks to the fact no-one knows you if you don't want them to. MN is and has been a life-saver to so many they can't shut it down.

Feel OUTRAGE and at this happening to MN.
