well I don't understand, i hardly ever read the sex threads but there are lods of them on mn so it's hardly out of ordee to use the word boobs on a thread which isn't about breast feeding

nutcracker · 03/08/2006 14:11

Nothing wrong with it IMO. There have been far worse threads from female mners than the one HD started too.

suejonez · 03/08/2006 14:13

I don;t particularly have a problem with a few brave men on mumsnet but I also don;t quite see the point of a "mens room" in the same way I don't see the point of a "ladies room".

What is it for that isn't covered by parenting, health, products, chat etc?

NotQuiteCockney · 03/08/2006 14:14

Yeah, the boobs thread is a bit pathetic, but it's not actually offensive.

It isn't, as I feared, a bunch of men actually discussing boobs in detail, it's HD posting a sad tribute to boobs in general and then getting steamrollered by a lot of offended women. So MN continues as usual. Well, nobody has flounced yet, so it's not a proper thread, but still.

southeastastra · 03/08/2006 14:15

it's just a bit of fun, light fluff we all need it sometimes.

lemonaid · 03/08/2006 14:16

Isn't phycology something to do with algae?

lilibet · 03/08/2006 14:16

KristinaM, look at the top of the page

Mumsnet:-

by parents for parents

HappyDaddy · 03/08/2006 14:17

This must be a record...getting slated in two threads about the same subject at the same time?

I'm honoured.

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2006 14:20

I'm not offended, NQC, and I don't think I really constitute a steam roller

sadly

LieselVonTrapp · 03/08/2006 14:21

Some men are single-handledly raising their children, why shouldnt they come on here for advice and perhaps talk to other blokes. And there have been loads of threads on there from women wanting a male perspective.

bundle · 03/08/2006 14:21

There used to be a programme on Radio 4 - called the Locker Room I think - which was presented by Tom Robinson (among others) which covered very intelligently issues affecting men, both "heavy" and "lite". I remember a piece on male rape which was very moving.

NotQuiteCockney · 03/08/2006 14:22

No, you're right, offended wasn't the right word. I do think that all the annoyed? Irritated? women added up to a steamroller.

CheesyFeet · 03/08/2006 14:22

If you don't like The Mens Room Cam, then it's fairly easy to just ignore it.

HD FWIW I thought your thread was just a bit of harmless fun, can't really understand why ppl are getting upset tbh.

It's like any other debate, if you don't like it, leave it alone.

CheesyFeet · 03/08/2006 14:24

As for Mumsnet being female only, no disrespect intended, but what a load of rubbish! It's great to get a man's perspective at times. How would you police it anyway?

HappyDaddy · 03/08/2006 14:26

Let's not get into the valid points of men being on here, the post WAS a stupid throw away one, after all.

I very much doubt I've said much that is helpful on here ever. Does that mean I'm banning myself?

expatinscotland · 03/08/2006 14:28

I'm going to Fanjeaux to pay hommage to this British term for female genitalia.

CheesyFeet · 03/08/2006 14:32

get thee immediatement from Mumsnet Expat with your filthy talk of Fanjeaux

Wordsmith · 03/08/2006 14:33

and at the attitude of some people who think they can police the internet! How can you stop people posting about anything they want? If it's offensive, it can be removed. But to be honest, the most offensive comments I have read on mn have all been from women (I presume, but of course don't know, as we're all cyber-people, and could be the archetypal hairy trucker in real life.)

Don't ban yourself HD, I think you're quite funny. For a man, that is.

HappyDaddy · 03/08/2006 14:38

I wouldn't ban myself, I like getting under everyone's skin too much.

piglit · 03/08/2006 14:39

Is there anything MNetters won't argue about at the moment?

HappyDaddy · 03/08/2006 14:40

No there isn't piglit.

Yes there is, happydaddy.

No there isn't.

etc.

clerkKent · 04/08/2006 13:02

Not long ago there was a big dispute about whether gifted+talented was a valid thread. Cod had a rant, many others joined in, but it is still there (if not much used during the summer hols). Change is a dreadful thing!

99% of Mens Room stuff is puerile, imo, and 95% seems to be written by MUMS not Dads (hd excepted). If you don't like it, stay out! I do, most of the time.

Tortington · 04/08/2006 13:51

cam you trouble causer you - come back. and give us more info.

i have never been in he mens room personally. its usually smells or urine - or so cam tells me

Cam · 04/08/2006 14:20

(But it feels like m/net has got a Page 3)
