Hello hello

Yes, this was done because namechanging on the mobile site was a right faff - and as more and more of you are using the mobile site, we wanted to improve your user experience

Posters are allowed to namechange on Mumsnet - mid-thread if they like; this has always been the case. What's not allowed is using the namechange facility to mislead - that is, to back yourself up as though you were two completely separate posters, or 'talk' to yourself (unless it's obviously a joke), etc.

Without giving too much away, we definitely have Ways of Knowing that posters are namechanging on threads. So if you suspect someone is namechanging to mislead, please report the thread to us and we'll get on it.

As to the just-for-one-post thing - we'll come back to you on that one

I think it's brilliant Rowan, thank you Flowers

giraffescantdanceallnight · 13/09/2013 10:53

Surely it shows you as "pink" or whatever colour as the OP no matter what NN you use. So a thread full of sock puppets would be obvious

ModeratelyObvious · 13/09/2013 11:34

No, posts aren't coloured if the OP changes name, giraffes, never have been.

Tee2072 · 13/09/2013 12:53

There would be very little point in name changing if that were the case, giraffes my lovely.

Only the original nick name is highlighted.

Blatherskite · 13/09/2013 13:13

Why do I not have this?

nickelbabe · 13/09/2013 13:15

I like the idea.

It's such a faff when you want to post under another name and have to go through registration etc to do so.

nickelbabe · 13/09/2013 13:16

"So if you suspect someone is namechanging to mislead, please report the thread to us and we'll get on it."

obviously this rule doesn't count if it's all for a laff, does it?
when everyone is aware this is happening :)

Sparklingbrook · 13/09/2013 13:18

I never post under another name. I want to now. Grin But then i wouldn't be me.

IAmNotTeeAtAll · 13/09/2013 17:40

Testing

Tee2072 · 13/09/2013 17:40

Cool

viperslast · 13/09/2013 21:15

Thanks Rowan. It is much easier than it used to be, mainly because I can never get it to switch back to mobile! You do still need to faff to get the name change set up... Wink
