Please fix it on the iphone app

Tech · 25/06/2013 23:22

Test test. Gimme £££

Tech · 26/06/2013 00:25

Hi, We'll put a fix up for this overnight.

Tech · 26/06/2013 00:35

Oh it's a slightly long story. We knew there was a problem, but didn't know until just now that we could fix it ourselves without involving an update to the app in the app store iyswim.

Tech · 26/06/2013 00:44

This should be done now. The pound should be £ innit.

WhoKateAllTheEggsMumsnet · 17/04/2014 12:56

@HerrenaHarridan

Hey!

Please fixit again tech

Also words like fiancé go all weird

Is it weird because of the accent Herrena? We'll ask tech to take another look, though obviously they've got quite a bit on after the whole Heartbleed fandango, so not sure how quickly they'll be able to get round to it!

CatherineMumsnet · 19/04/2014 12:24

Tech are keeping an eye on this thread and working out the bugs. Keep posting to let us know what's been fixed / is still broken.

RowanMumsnet · 24/04/2014 11:23

Hello

Apologies for this. We've flagged it to Tech to see whether they can implement the fix they put in last time - we'll let you know their response when we have it.

RowanMumsnet · 24/04/2014 11:30

@puddock

 = pound sign for a while now full site, IE6 (I know I know very old)

Nocomet it's a letter in Icelandic & Old English called a thorn.

Sorry Puddock - most MN things work in IE6 but there are a few things that don't; we fully support IE8 onwards I think (the most recent version being IE11?)

RowanMumsnet · 24/04/2014 11:37

@FruVikingessOla

? - pound

Still nope!

iMac (fairly old OS I think though!) and Firefox

Oh - so not just the app?

RowanMumsnet · 24/04/2014 11:37

@picnicbasketcase

I get 'ampersand pound semicolon' for a pound symbol. On other people's message I get that weird string of sixes and threes.

Your pound sign shows up normally for me (Windows OS, Chrome, desktop site). How are you viewing the site?

RowanMumsnet · 24/04/2014 11:52

OK thanks - so it's app and iOS?

Can you tell us which version of iOS you're using?

RowanMumsnet · 24/04/2014 16:19

Sorry Fru - looks like this one has confuddled us a bit.

OK I will pass this on to Tech along with the message about the app!

RowanMumsnet · 25/04/2014 13:24

Right:

if you're having a problem viewing special characters, you're NOT on the app, and you're using an Apple device please tell us which version of iOS and which browser you're using, and whether you're on desktop or mobile.

if you're having a problem viewing special characters, you're NOT on the app, and you're using an Android device please tell us which browser you're using and which device, and whether you're on desktop or mobile.

if you're using the apps... we're really sorry. We know this has been a problem for ages. But the brutal truth is that we're not going to make any more fixes to the existing apps - because time that gets diverted to fixing the existing ones is time that gets taken away from developing the new ones, which we're very close to testing now.

KateSMumsnet · 26/04/2014 10:31

Thanks folks. Are there any other devices/iOS we should know about before we go to Tech?
