Swearing. Why?

dummad · 23/04/2013 13:21

I'n not averse to the odd 'FFS' or whatever, but it seems to me that the use of the C word is now commonplace on every thread nowadays. And i don't like it one bit.

It never used to be like this. Why the cultural shift? I never hear it spoken out loud so why is it suddenly ok to plaster it all over MN?

Is it suddenly 'en vogue' to sound like a drunken navvy? Words like cunt, snatch, twat etc are just vile. Can't we reign it in a bit?

OP posts:
LittleMissBunnyoni · 23/04/2013 18:31

My autocorrect doesn't try to correct cunt to something else anymore, I must have been on mumsnet a lot recently :o

dummad · 23/04/2013 18:32

What??? Why have I been reported? Why me??

OP posts:
SPsYoniTheOneAndOnly · 23/04/2013 18:32

My phone recognises munting, cunt, twat etc thanks to MN

Usual I broke the OP? Shock Little old me?

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/04/2013 18:33

OP, fess up

You must've known this was swear-baiting. I hope you did anyway Biscuit Hmm

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/04/2013 18:33

And you were probably reported for goading or making it about our children low blow btw, considering you're so righteous about this all

WTFisABooyhooISBooyhoo · 23/04/2013 18:33

we also say it when someone has a big burp Grin

Sunnywithshowers · 23/04/2013 18:37

I've reported you for your personal attack on SP. You called her a cunt, which is not in the spirit of the site as I understand it.

reelingintheyears · 23/04/2013 18:39

LaLaLaLaLa.

CUNT

JassyRadlett · 23/04/2013 18:46

You kind of have to love a thread where a number of people discussed the origin of 'cunt' as an insult and whether it was therefore inherently sexist, but no one called out the use of 'lame' to mean pathetic.

Or maybe they did, and I missed it cos I'm on my way home from a job where the language makes Mumsnet look like Sunday school.

JulieMumsnet · 23/04/2013 18:47

Just in case you missed the post from RebeccaMumsnet, here are our talk guidelines Wink

kneedeepindaisies · 23/04/2013 18:50

I agree Sunny. Although I'm starting to think this thread is a big cunty wind up...

WTFisABooyhooISBooyhoo · 23/04/2013 18:52

i was thinking that kneedeep. OP seems a bit too unclear on the ways of MN for one who has been around so long.

LittleMissBunnyoni · 23/04/2013 18:52

Would now be the right time to bring out the cunt bunting? Or is it too soon :o

RandallPinkFloyd · 23/04/2013 18:54

Oh I see, it was a wind up all along. Balls. Sucked in.

Tee2072 · 23/04/2013 18:54

It's never too soon for cunt bunting!

GettingObsessive · 23/04/2013 18:57

But I reported the OP first!

SPsYoniTheOneAndOnly · 23/04/2013 18:58

I know you did Grin

kneedeepindaisies · 23/04/2013 18:59

To go from "I don't like the c word"to calling someone a cunt in 160 posts suggests to me that we've been had.

Love that MN comes up on the first page if you google cunt bunting Grin

infamouspoo · 23/04/2013 19:02

lol at *wereontheway' and 'cuntychops' on the phone. That has made my night that has Grin

RandallPinkFloyd · 23/04/2013 19:02

Can I keep "fuck of you ugly cunt" though. It's very perceptive, I really am quite ugly Grin

kneedeepindaisies · 23/04/2013 19:04

Sorry Getting. You were way ahead of all of us Smile

WTFisABooyhooISBooyhoo · 23/04/2013 19:06

we have cunt bunting? Shock

Tee2072 · 23/04/2013 19:08

Totally had.
