Women presumably who don't have a certain sense of humour, or don't agree with certain (long standing) posters being described as beige admin workers who nag their ugly husbands, who were friendless at school, wear cheap clothes, have no fun in their sad little joyless lives etc etc Literally paragraphs and paragraphs of nastiness.

This is some of the most vile and misogynistic stuff I have ever read on MN from other women. These kind of comments normally come from trolls and MRA invasions. Is this really what MN has become? Does everyone think that this sort of shit should stand? What happened to the fucking sisterhood?

I am astounded to be quite honest.

you cant really be supportive of someone you utterly disagree with, can you? polite, but not supportive. and some people ( not many) are arses too

cestlesautres · 30/03/2013 18:17

Pan also had the balls. And look what happened to him.

MissAnnersley · 30/03/2013 18:17

I have had a couple of PMs from people who have felt bullied.

One in particular stands out because the poster was quite new and was genuinely upset at what had happened.

She seemed pretty determined to leave which is a pity.

I didn't really know what to say as it seemed pretty clear from the thread that that was what had happened.

cestlesautres · 30/03/2013 18:18

There's a kind of mad deafness as well, which makes posting pointless.

tsc, you know that reality came onto the thread and confirmed it was a joke.
you should have had the grace to apologize rather than starting your bizarre and stalkery crusade.

cestlesautres · 30/03/2013 18:19

In my opinion it's not in the interests of the site for people to leave as described in MissA's thread.

cestlesautres · 30/03/2013 18:20

TSC was that a reference to mad deafness? Grin

usualsuspect · 30/03/2013 18:21

Lol at gangs.

Are we 15?

FloatyBeatie · 30/03/2013 18:22

Was the 'three spoof threads at once' thing the result of a few people arranging on a thread, in public, to start spoof threads? If so, I can see that a group decision to make multiple spoofs is annoying (I remember cod pissing people off with some such scheme a hundred years ago). It's especially annoying when, as with the spoon thread, it didn't seem to involve any particular humour beyond the simple fact of being untrue. I love joke threads but I can see that multiple random fibs on the board is a bit of a time waster.

Pagwatch · 30/03/2013 18:22

But Porto, without wishing to be argumentative, I could have sent you a PM about being hurt on threads sneering about SN, about the jokes some posters have made about my son, about lots of situations where attitudes and hateful posts have upset me.

A board this size will always have divisions and conflict and upset.
I just am frustrated that there is a determination in some posters to see everyone who happened to post on one thread, or be friendly with them, or associate with them as the cause of every hurt feeling on the board.

this thread has ten times more poster specific nastiness than the other. vague type snobbery on one full on name calling and personal attacks nastiness on this one. as for pan. well. he seems pretty robust and indifferent to other peoples issues with him. good attitude on here.

EchoBitch · 30/03/2013 18:26

Are people really mean on the SN threads? Shock

Who would do that.

McBalls · 30/03/2013 18:27

Biwi - can only speak for myself, but I didn't challenge on the thread because I could see it would be fairly pointless, it was in general a fun thread, and the enemy were the po, the humourless.
What do you think would have been the response to somebody coming on to say 'hold up leq, that's a bit bloody nasty'? My opinion at the time was that there'd be sniggers and accusations of po.

I saw how pan was turfed out (and he wasn't even going on to have a whinge!), that was probably the deciding factor.

Sometimes you just know there's little point and your opinion will get swallowed up. Not a big deal, but then neither is it a big deal, IMO, to start a seperate thread.

I think it's gone really well actually.

Sparklingbrook · 30/03/2013 18:27

People are very mean on the Adoption threads apparently. Sad

McBalls · 30/03/2013 18:28

Having said all that, I wish I had said something on the thread though. Both about leq's comments and the treatment of Pan.

But it would've been pretty futile. I know that.

Argh bollocks, stupid frigging iPad link fail

Hullygully · 30/03/2013 18:30

I dont understand what you are on about tsc

mind you, I dont care either so no worries

usualsuspect · 30/03/2013 18:30

I think Pans quite capable of sticking up for himself.

LoopaDaLoopa · 30/03/2013 18:30

not Pom, but still...

McBalls · 30/03/2013 18:32

Course he is, usual.

But speaking up isn't just for the defence of the meek, is it?

usualsuspect · 30/03/2013 18:33

Maybe ask him why he posted on that thread?

McBalls · 30/03/2013 18:34

Sometimes you just want to counter what is being said, or chuck your viewpoint into the ring. Not to have a scrap but just because you'd feel a bit rubbish by not.
