An Edit Button

Please could we have an edit button for our posts in talk. It would be so much better to be able to edit out spelling mistakes and punctuation errors.

OP posts:

LizLemon030: we're still most happy to look into your problem with deleting posts if you'd care to mail in, as we suggested. Tis most odd that you say Olivia phoned you. We very very rarely do that (and don't have a record of people's phone numbers).

On another note, we'd like to remind people that, although frequent nickname-changing is completely fine, we would be concerned by people nickname-changing on the same thread in a way that could be misleading.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 29/10/2012 11:56

I agree with Trills.

HelenMumsnet · 29/10/2012 11:59

@TheDoctrineOfSnatch

I agree with Trills.

Yes. She is quite right.

Reckon there could be 5/6 new posts within that 15-second timeframe for an edit.

It would undoubtedly make for some confusion.

PrincessSymbian · 29/10/2012 12:23

What I would really like, in the context of mumsnet, is a reply to post option, so that I could respond to posts even when the thread had moved on by umpteen posts.
But I think that is probably a bit like asking for the moon on a stick.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 29/10/2012 12:33

I tihnk it would just make extra work for HQ, and bygum, they moan enough as it is.

Wink

And, meh, what's an odd misplaced letter between friends? My concern it would turn into a foray into gas lighting by sinister folks.

valiumredhead · 29/10/2012 13:22

Princess - can you not just c and p the post and reply? That's what I do.

Not in favour of an edit button - would cause chaos Grin

MaureenCognito · 29/10/2012 13:22

im after lois now

PrincessSymbian · 29/10/2012 13:41

Yes but if it's pages after the post you want to respond to, then it all feels slightly irrelevant.
plus cutting and pasting on the iPhone is a pita

valiumredhead · 29/10/2012 13:50

Oh I do it anyway even if I come to the thread late!

LizLemon030 · 29/10/2012 14:11

To Mumsnet, Hmm I don't like the inference that I'm lying, or remembering it wrong. It is not 'odd' that I say Olivia rang me. She did. I must have emailed my number to Olivia and she DID ring me. She was very pleasant and polite but no, my posts weren't going to be deleted even though that was what I wanted.

Are you saying that the policy has now changed? Are you saying that you're now prepared to delete all the posts under the user name that I was using at that time? That is all I ever wanted.

LizLemon030 · 29/10/2012 14:19

Mumsnet, I've emailed you my old screen name and requested that all posts attached to that name are deleted.

MaureenCognito · 29/10/2012 14:46

Who is changing names on this thread ?! Weirdos.
I need a new name.

Sparklingbroomstick · 29/10/2012 15:31

I need a bigger notebook. Grin

L1zLem0n · 29/10/2012 16:00

yeah, who'd do that? :-|

Whooooosualsuspect · 29/10/2012 16:02

How odd to keep name changing on one thread.

Trills · 29/10/2012 19:59

I wonder if any of the Techs have details on the fastest ever threads.

00:00 thread started.
How many posts before 00:05?

AGiddyKipperInOneHand · 29/10/2012 20:12

Sorry about name changing in the same thread, it's new to me and am still getting the hand of the idea of it. It isn't something I've done on other forums I am on regularly as they don't allow it.

anyway, looks like MNHQ has spoken on the subject of the edit button, so I will bow out.
