I have just discovered that a banned troll not only still has access to the site but is in fact linking to the bereaved mummies thread from her blog (with nasty comments )

I am really concerned that such a vulnerable group who like the anominity of mn is being dragged outwith the board

is there anything we can do to stop people linking to sensitive subjects on here

Well said FM - about bloody time someone spoke up about this.

weblette · 23/05/2012 09:17

FM - how horrible :(

Hope you don't mind but I reported your post so that someone from MNHQ will look at it - and hopefully deal with it - more quickly.

They really should take things like this seriously. You lovely ladies have been through so much already without sick trolls to deal with.

RandomNumbers · 23/05/2012 09:23

I am so sorry, how cruel

OracleInaCoracle · 23/05/2012 09:29

Oh ffs! Why won't they leave you/us alone!

Get0rfMoiLand · 23/05/2012 09:35

I am really sorry - that is horrible.

But I am not sure what anyone can do - presumably anyone can access any thread on here and link it to an external site, banned or not.

It is shit though - why are people so spiteful and cruel.

MNHQ can only ban people from posting, not from viewing threads. Anyone can read any thread, they just pop up on Google - there is absolutely no anonymity in posting, only that your identity isn't known. Everything you post is out there in public.

BawdyStrumpet · 23/05/2012 09:40

That is awful. I can't see how MNHQ could stop them from linking though they should certainly be trying to stop them accessing/posting on MN.

Trills · 23/05/2012 09:43

What GetOrf said.

The only area that is not publicly visible, Google-able and linkable is OTBT. Even there you can link, but people won't be able to see what is there unless they log in.

frasersmummy · 23/05/2012 09:45

thing is the troll came onto the thread and said who they were..

they were deleted when one of us pointed it out .. but its resulted in the nasty blog entry..

banning should mean you cant even read let alone post ..

Is this a well known mn troll?

How strange. Have you reported this to us, frasersmummy?

Voidka · 23/05/2012 10:23

Was it the woman who had a beef with Social Services?

shabbapinkfrog · 23/05/2012 10:30

I cant speak for FMummy MNHQ BUT I know I have reported this and other problems on there countless times...enough times that I am now sick of the sound of my own voice.

CheeseandGherkins · 23/05/2012 10:51

I didn't see her post on our thread but did see the resulting comments. I didn't know about the blog either. I'm now feeling pretty uncomfortable about posting on it. I was planning a catch up when the pcs were ul ANC running this weekend but it feels like a violation. Least I know who people are on FB...

CheeseandGherkins · 23/05/2012 10:52

*up and, not ul ANC, bloody phone

frasersmummy · 23/05/2012 10:52

Helen I have reported what i beleive is an ongoing troll issue a few times and been told that you cant find anything untoward

then the troll announced her arrival proudly .. I think they have been around in other guises for a while.. in the guises I have reported to you ...

but then after announcing they are here .. then bam this entry in their blog...

Whilst I appreciate you perfer the pm route.. I was upset to find a known troll had linked to something i said on here and was being nasty about it .. and was proudly stating on her blog that she had "told fm some home truths".. so its now out on the public domain anyway

so is that it mn??? how strange??? is that the sum of your wisdom on the matter??

Tee2072 · 23/05/2012 11:42

Sorry, but there is no way to block someone from just viewing a site. And anyone can link to anything from here. It's a fact of life and the internet.

I'm not even aware that MNHQ can do anything about something someone said on a blog that is not at all part of MN.

MN is not private or even really as anonymous as you seem to think.

frasersmummy · 23/05/2012 11:58

I never said it was private or anonymous.. what mn can do is listen when we tell them that we think there is a problem

its all very well saying we cant see anything untowards but when several people say the same thing we cant all be wrong

and then this..and its not just reading and linkiing this person posted personal comments aimed at me on the thread .. despite being "banned" I just think mn dropped the ball on this one

Would you please drop us an email at contactus at mumsnet dot com, frasersmummy? It might be quicker - and less tricky - to sort this out off board...
