Improvements to the phone app version could include being able to flip individual threads (oldest to newest or the other way round). I'm every time I have to flip everything back and forth because new topics I want to read from the beginning whereas some I am watching/part of are huge and I only want to read the newest posts.

I'd quite like to be able to 'follow' posters so I can stalk them but I haven't really thought it through, so may be a shit idea.

Also, if you could 'like' posts, you could search for most-liked posts that day, that week, or whatever.

I'm torn about the edit own posts thing, maybe for a very short amount of time after postings; otherwise a lot of threads could lose their sense when you are reading them.

I think it's quite good that what you post is permanent, it makes you really think about what you're saying before you say it. That is good procedure for rl too.

Another vote for always highlight OP, even if they namechange. Sometimes it's really frustrating losing track of the OP because of a seasonal namechange, sometimes it would out sockpuppets, would be useful in several ways IMO.
